Base Set Scan |
| Comments:
The base set features a nice action shot of the players with very sharp photography. The background is colored with the player's team colors and the card is enhanced with foil along the bottom and around the photo. The back of the card contains a horizontal display with a short write-up on the player along with their stats from the past five years. Also in the set is a 30 card Team Trios subset card which feature three star players from each team.
While the base cards offer a nice design, we were less than thrilled with the amount of duplicates we received in the box. With only 9 packs in the box, you might expect some better collation towards building the set.

Rookie Scan |
| Comments:
The Rookie Premier subset nearly knocked me out of my chair. I was very impressed with the overall design of the cards. The rookies are done on an acetate card stock which you can see through. The team logo is also nicely done with a light-F/X type foil etching on the left side of the card. The player's draft position is also displayed boldly on the bottom of the card.
We pulled two different levels of rookies in our box. Two were numbered to 499 and one numbered to just 299 copies. This should definitely add to the collectibility of the rookies in the set. |
Parallel Card Scan |
| Comments:
The entire base set contains a parallel insert with varying numbering. The base set blue parallels are #'d to 66, while the rookies and Team Trio parallels are numbered to 33 copies. We were fortunate enough to pull a Paul Pierce base set blue parallel #'d to 66 in our break. The card features blue foil instead of the normal silver foil you find on the base card. It is also individually numbered on the bottom left on the front of the card.

Game Jersey Card Scan |
| Comments:
The game jersey memorabilia set is broken up into three different categories: Past, Present, and Future. You can find which category the jersey card falls under on the back of the card. Not only do players have individual jersey cards for each category, some can also be found in dual and triple versions as well. The duals are numbered to 50, while the triples are serial numbered to just 33 copies.
The player selection from our box wasn't the greatest, but at 2-3 per box, you have a good opportunity to pull some of the better players found in the checklist.

Autograph Card Scans |
Comments:
Similar to the jersey breakdown, the autograph cards in Trilogy also come in a Past, Present and Future signature subset. However, the dual and triple autograph versions are much more limited than their jersey counterparts. The dual autograph cards are numbered to 33, while there are just three copies of each triple autograph.
UD utilized sticker autos for the regular signatures in the set. While I'm not a big fan of the sticker autographs it doesn't detract from the overall design much. You also get up to two regular autographs per box which adds to the overall value of the product.

Plexi-Autograph Card Scan |
| Comments:
If there is one single reason to break Trilogy, it has to be the plexi-glass autograph cards. Not only are they hard signed and not stickers, but they are something you have to see to appreciate. UD inserts the AutoFocus plexi-autos at a rate of one per box and also inserted dual auto and triple auto variations.
While we may not have pulled a superstar plexi-glass autograph like Jordan or Lebron, you can still appreciate how well these cards came out. It's definitely one of the bigger highlights of the Trilogy set.

Autograph Patch Card Scan |
| Comments:
If you haven't caught our video break, then you probably missed the excitement over pulling this Rookie Premiere Autograph Patch card. It's basically a fancy parallel to the Rookie Premiere subset in Trilogy. However, the scan simply doesn't do the card justice. It features the same type of acetate card stock as the regular rookie cards, but also includes a patch from a jersey worn by the rookie. Even with the thickness of the card, you still get the nice see-through effect through the player picture on the card.
The only complaint you may be able to make is that the autograph comes on a sticker. But even without the autograph, the card is still one of the sharpest basketball cards I've seen.

The
Final Verdict! |

I
rated this box a 4 of 5 HI Fives. It's a good thing you're guaranteed at least a rookie, autograph, or memorabilia card in every pack of Trilogy. At the expensive price point, you'll need all those hits to lighten the hit on the wallet. But don't be too afraid to shell over some dough for Trilogy. The rookie cards and plexi-glass autos are done unbelievably well. The regular jerseys and autographs may not be the most attractive, but there's plenty of other hits in the product to make you forget about that. Add to that the possibility of pulling some of the nicer dual and triple jerseys and autographs cards, and I may just have to pick some of this up for myself.
