Review:
2006 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball (Review

2006 Topps
Allen & Ginter Baseball
In 1887, the first
nationally distributed baseball cards were born - Allen
& Ginter - and they went on to become the most popularly
collected cards of the late 1800`s. Those cards paid tribute
to champions from around the world, including boxers,
wrestlers, and, of course, baseball players. This release
pays tribute to these first-ever cards. Each sealed box
contains 24 packs of 6 cards each in a 350 card base set.
>>> Each box contains TWO Framed Autographs, Memorabilia,
Printing Plates, and/or Allen & Ginter original cards
and ONE Allen & Ginter box loader containing ONE N43 card,
N43 Memorabilia card, N43 Autograph card, Postcard, or
Personalized Autograph Postcard. Parallel sets (mini >
all are original 1-15/32” x 2-11/16” size): Base, Black
Border, Bazooka Back > #`d to 50, and Wood > each is a
1-of-1). Inserts: Dick Perez Sketch cards, Framed Memorabilia
cards, Framed Autograph cards all hand #`d), Framed Original
cards, Framed Mini Printing Plates (each is a 1-of-1),
and Rip cards 1:288 (Original Cards, Dick Perez Original
Sketches > each is a 1-of-1, Extra Minis, and Autographed
Minis > signed in red ink). |

Base Card Scan |
|
|
|
| Comments:
Very rarely
does a set of cards come out that I just can't get enough
of, but 2006 Topps Allen & Ginter is that product so
far this year. High-quality cards with that old-time
look and feel is what impresses me the most. The base
set includes active, retired and old-time baseball players
along with Superstar athletes from other sports and
Historic figures from years gone by.

Rookie Card Scan |
|
|
|
| Comments:
The rookies have
the new rookie logo on the upper portion of the card.
The backs of the rookie cards has a short bio of the
player. We pulled (8) rookies from our 24 packs of cards
in this box.
- (7) regular rookie cards
- (1) mini rookie card

Insert Card Scans |
|
|
|
| Comments:
The inserts/parallels
came fast and furious in this box as well. We pulled (14)
Dick Perez Sketch Cards in this box along with parallel
mini cards of the base set. The base set also has a parallel
Allen & Ginter Black-Bordered set as well. We pulled two
of those in this box also.
We were lucky enough to actually pull the case Rip
Card also (06/25), but it only yielded a Manny Ramirez
extra-mini.

Box Topper Card Scan |
|
|
|
| Comments:
Our box-topper
was a postcard of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1866. On the back
there is a notation from Ken Griffey Junior and a stamp
with his likeness in the upper right hand corner.

Game-Used Scan |
|
|
|
| Comments:
Our game-used
pull was a mini GU bat of Vladimir Guerrero of the Angels.
These cards are encased in plastic and they are real
nice pieces.

The
Final Verdict! |
|
|

|
| I
rate this box a 4 1/2 of 5 HI Fives. 2006 Topps Allen
& Ginter Baseball is a winner in my book for sure. I would
not hesitate to purchase this product at all because of
the high quality of the base set. You can usually find
these boxes in the $75 to $105 price range on sites I
have checked. The first thing to came to mind when I opened
the first pack was " These cards would be great for I/P
and TTM". If you are an I/P or TTM autograph collector
this box is definitely for you. Good value for the money
in my opinion. |
