   Base Card Scans

Comments:

The base cards have a very nice old-time design to them, bringing back memories of the 1911 Turkey Red Set Of tobacco cards. The 2006 Topps Turkey Red set starts where last years set left off. The first card in the set is number 316 and goes to 630. On the back is a short Bio of the player either stating their major league or minor league information. The back of the cards have that old look as did the tobacco cards of 1911. The front of the cards has a same grainy look and feel to them and it gives them that classy appearance.

   Rookie Card Scans
Comments:

We pulled (30) rookie cards of one kind or another from this box. The new rookie logo is located beneath the Topps Turkey Red logo. Here's the breakdown of what we pulled;

  • (26) regular rookie cards
  • (3) parallel red rookie cards
  • (1) parallel black rookie card

   Insert Card Scans

Comments:

The base parallels came at one per pack as indicated on the box. We pulled (1) Black, (5) White, (17) Red and (1) GOLD of Vernon Wells. The Gold were numbered to /50 last year, this one isn't numbered.

   Box Topper Scan
Comments:

Our box-topper insert was a blanket of Manny Ramirez. B-18 Blankets: 5-1/4" square flannels originally issued in 1914 and wrapped around several popular brands of tobacco. They got the nickname of blankets because many of them were sewn together to form bed covers. B-18 blankets are among the most beautiful and original baseball collectibles ever created.

   Game-Used Card Scans
Comments:

We pulled (1) game-used card in our box of Topps Turkey Red. Eric Chavez of the Oakland Athletics.

   The Final Verdict!

A nice continuation of a great product from Topps I give this box a 4 of 5 HI Fives. This box was fun to open with the rookie card pulls, parallels and game-used. This box seems to be selling in about the $60 to $73 range on most sites I have checked. A very nice quality product from Topps for 2006 Baseball. The only problem I saw was that we didn't meet the odds with only one game-used or auto in the box. This is the first time since I have been reviewing Topps product that we didn't meet or exceed the odds on the box.
