   Base Cards Scan
Comments:

The base cards in 2007 Bowman come in three seperate tiers. The veterans have a red border within the outer black border to distinguish them from the rest of the set. Each card features a facsimile signature above the foil printed name at the bottom of the card

The colored inner border truly does makes the card stand out from the black outer border. You may want to take care in handling these cards as black bordered cards tend to show any imperfections pretty easily, such as white edges or corners. The player selection is pretty large, and you'll see many of your favorite players within the set.

   Rookie Cards Scan
Comments:

There are 20 different rookie cards within the 2007 Bowman set. They are easily recognizable from the rest of the set with their green internal border and the new MLB Rookie Card logo in the upper corner.

We were fortunate enough to pull some of the bigger rookies available this year such as Daisuke Matsuzaka and Kei Igawa. They come up quite frequently and getting all the rookies should be pretty easy to do with just a few boxes.

   Prospect Cards Scans
Comments:

You get two prospect cards in every pack of 2007 Bowman Hobby baseball. While they don't feature the MLB Rookie Card logo, these are the first cards for the young up and coming stars. They feature a white outer border and blue inner border and have a "1st Bowman Card" notation in the upper left corner.

Bowman has always had a religious following for their prospect cards, and this year should be no different with 110 players available. While only Peter Gammons may know every one of the players in the checklist and what their batting averages were in little league, don't shy away from the potential of this set. In a few years you may be digging back through them finding the first cards of tomorrow's superstars.

   Prospect Chrome Cards Scans
Comments:

Along with the two regular Bowman prospect cards, you also get two Chrome variations of the prospect cards in each pack. The cards feature the same photos, but have a black border instead of the white found on the regular cards.

We did have a strange collation issue with our box. In every pack, one of the regular prospects and one of the chrome prospects were the same player. I'm not sure if this is typical of Bowman, but it doesn't hurt when you pull a prospect you're looking for as you get both versions with a single shot.

   Insert Card Scan
Comments:

As an added bonus, you get randomly inserted Alex Rodgriguez "Road to 500" insert cards. Topps is running a cross-product promotion featuring Alex Rodriguez's run to his 500th home run. Each set has a specific number home run available in it and Bowman includes Home Runs 151-175.

There are also very rare one-of-one autograph variations that are hiding somewhere inside boxes of Bowman out there.

   Gold Parallel Card Scan
Comments:

Every pack contains one gold parallel card. Instead of the black outer border, they feature a gold outer border. The colored inner border remains unchanged, and each of the three subsets are included in the gold parallel set. They also feature the facsimile autograph in gold foil instead of the printed autograph that is found on the base cards. With packs already loaded with goodies, it makes for a nice bonus card in each pack.

   Numbered Parallel Card Scan
Comments:

Along with the gold parallel Bowman cards, there is a large assortment of individually numbered parallels to be found within the set. There are red, orange, and blue bordered cards with the rarest versions being a 1 of 1, while the larger print runs range up to 500.

Not only do the regular versions come with numbered parallels, but the chrome inserts also have serial numbered variations as well. There are Refractors, X-Fractors, and Super Fractor versions that come in a variety of colors and numbering. It's enough to keep any player collector on their toes.

   Autograph Cards Scan
Comments:

If all the inserts, prospects, parallels, and chrome cards weren't enough to win you over, you also get one autograph card in every box. Each autograph card is numbered to 500, while their parallels range from a single copy up to 120 copies. The checklist includes both rookies and prospects. There are also press plate autographs that are randomly inserted as well.

   The Final Verdict!

I gave this set a 5 out of 5 H.I. Fives. Bowman has been a staple in the hobby for years and I don't see this year's set deterring any collectors. The player selection for upcoming prospects is excellent. It's usually your first shot to get a card featuring the players as well. While the set usually isn't appreciated for years down the road, collectors know that any Bowman baseball break is pretty much a winner.

There are also jumbo box versions available which gives you more autographs per box, more chrome cards per pack, and even more inserts with every break. Add to that an inexpensive price tag, a wide range of inserts and parallels, and an autograph in every box, and you've definitely got a no-brainer box waiting for you at your local shop.
