NHL Debuts: 2023-24

Roby Järventie (Senators) made his debut last night, creating the fifth Finnish father-son duo to have played in the NHL. Dad Martti Järventie played a game for the Canadiens in the early noughties.

Does Dustin Nickel dressing & sitting as EBUG for the Flames count?

I think that would not count for a card, unless the EBUG gets ice time. I also have a feeling that UD stopped producing cards for back-ups under NHL contracts? Or are they still doing them? For example Joel Blomqvist backed-up for the Penguins in early November.

Kevin Mandolese was included in 2022-23 Series 2 as a back-up. He ended making his NHL debut later in the season which hides this. If they didn't include him under the back-up rule, he would have been in 2023-24 products based on his debut date.

You are correct. UD stopped producing cards for 'back up only' goalies a few years ago. Anyone like Mandolese who did get a card would have been a mistake.
