Just for fun I played with the numbers...
Total serial #'ed memo: 16,055
Total serial #'ed auto: 3,145
Odds-based memo: 1/14.46 packs
Odds-based autos: 1/18.74 packs
Upper Deck has stated at least one memorabilia, one autograph, and one more memo or auto card per box...
Playing with the 3 auto/memo cards per box statement, we come up with approximately 16,500 boxes
16,055 serial #'ed memo + 16,500 boxes * 1 memo per 14.46 packs = 33,173
3,145 serial #'ed auto + 16,500 boxes * 1 auto per 18.74 packs = 16,354
Add 'em up and we get 49,527 combined auto/memo cards, or 3.001 per box which works out pretty nicely with UD's stated 3 auto/memo cards per box. However, 16,354 auto cards is a touch under 1 auto card per box (0.99 auto cards per box), but pretty darn close.
I'm not really sure where UD comes up with 1:16400 packs for the Gretzky Group A memorabilia B/W portrait vs. 1:16590 for the Group A signatures Base St. Louis Blues, there's no reasonable print run that yields both of those exact ratios... my hunch is there are 15 copies of each, and they aren't quite accurate on one or the other number as they made final tweaks to the print run. So a total of 16,500 boxes also makes sense here, as a print of around 15 copies on these guys seems realistic.
A print run of 16,500 boxes also seems to make perfect sense when it comes to the parallels - there are 165 cards in the set, with the red parallels x/100 that would mean exactly one red per box, and the blacks being x/50 would fall one every other box.
Also of note, the wire photo ratios seem a bit wonky - the box break quotes 5 wire photos per box, but this doesn't really jive with an insertion ratio of 1:4.5 packs for the regulars and 1:22.5 for the multiplayer (which nets out to roughly 3.75 wire photos per box and not 5). As these numbers are all ratios, they don't really impact my guesstimate on the overall print run.
So, if we assume my math is roughly right and there are 16,500 boxes... this is how that translates into print runs for cards that are inserted by ratio...
