I'm getting bored between my player collections and Sharks stuff  And we all know that idle hands are the devils playground :|

So, I'd like to hear some opinions from other collectors. If you could only have TEN autographs of different players -- that are symbolic of the game and its entire history (and would be SOMEWHAT easy to attain), which ten players would be on that list of MUST HAVE autographs?

I've got a short list, just off the top of my head:

The Great One
Mr. Hockey
The Rocket
Mario Lemieux
Steve Yzerman

.....would be interesting to see what others think. Lets hear em. Who would be your top ten?

Definitely top 8:

Gordie Howe
Wayne Gretzky
Mario Lemieux
Bobby Orr
Bobby Hull
Maurice Richard
Steve Yzerman
Mark Messier

It's going to be really hard to pin down 10 autos for sure, especially under the criteria you've selected. If you're looking for the best players, Clay and Nick have pretty extensively covered who to get (though personally, I would swap out Bobby Hull for either Jean Beliveau or despite his lack of a Cup ring...Marcel Dionne) BUT...from a historic standpoint in terms of impact to the game (which is where you seem to be going with this project,) you need to have Ted Lindsay in there IMO simply because of his role in establishing the PA.

I'm also starting to think that Willie O' Ree deserves a spot on that list. Him being a pioneer of sorts and his work in spreading the game and having an impact on its diversity. Who knows, in ten years he may have solidified his spot on this list.....

Wayne Gretzky
Gordie Howe
Bobby Orr
Mario Lemieux
Maurice Richard
Patrick Roy
Martin Brodeur
Steve Yzerman
Mark Messier
Jean Beliveau

It's pretty tough to cut it down to ten only, but I think they'd be:

Gretzky
Messier
Yzerman
Howe
Beliveau
Orr
Richard
Roy
Brodeur

and either Crosby or Ovechkin (modern day has to count for something :) )

I think these 10 autos are a must:

Wayne Gretzky,
Mario Lemieux,
Bobby Orr,
Bobby Hull,
Gordie Howe,
Maurice Richard,
Jacque Plante,
Patrick Roy,
Martin Broduer,
Guy Lafleur (Personal Favorite)

What question you should ask is what players would be after your Top 10?

There are always players like Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard, Ken Dryden, P. Esposito, T. Esposito, Stan Mikita, Mark Messier, Marcel Dionne, Ray Bourque, and Steve Yzerman that should get honorable mention.
