After some of the stories I have heard this is really great news

From the Penguins text/news feed

"Pens breaking news: Sidney Crosby on the ice this morning after missing 29 games with a concussion. Read more at Penguins.nhl.com"

I also heard that he is meeting with the media today at 11

Promising news. I have to wonder if they will shut him down for the rest of the season to ensure his long term health? Would really hate to see him come back too early and get another concussion.

Paul

I'd keep him out at least until the first or second round is done, but the lure of a cup may be too much for the Pens.

Also kool to see after everyone having 28 -30 games played up on him and still the league leader leading him in points by only 23 ??.Stamkos ahead of him by only 18 points.Good stuff and here's to hoping Crosby gets going again soon!!

They are in a position to shut him down until playoff time. It would make sense to take advantage of that.

Yeah I agree with most of you. Why try and rush him back? If the Pens are going to make the playoffs, just let him rest until then and go from there.

Skating is not practice. It is no different from him going for a light jog; so I wouldnt read too much into it. That being said, it is highly unlikely that he is back any time soon. I would even put round two out of the question. If Im a pens fan, this story feels like a kick in the teeth reminder that my starting center is out....

I am a little worried chemistry wise. He hasn't played many games or even practiced with a bunch of the players on the team. The trades, injuries, and call ups have made a circus out of the lines. I am very surprised they haven't dropped in the standings, but I think it would be best to get Crosby in the line up a few games before the playoffs.

Actually, I think going for a light jog is way better than complete inactivity. Yes, it's likely far, far away from any game time (or even full practice for that matter), but the clearance to do some form of activity is already a positive. I agree to go cautious here with his condition because concussions tend to become more frequent after you get it once.

On that note, I don't think any pens fan should be worrying about chemistry, because Crosby does it all regardless who he plays with.

I assume you meant to quote what I said

Of course anything is better than sitting around healing. But he is not coming back any time soon. The article is like a pens-fan's- teaser for a movie coming out next Christmas.....

Kind of interesting that he begins skating around the same time as Bettman's five point plan to deal with headshots. It's like saying "see he's alright and we're doing the right thing. Just ignore that video of Chara's hit".
