Dont you know the complete rules for making the rookie cards, that UD and Panini agreed? I can´t understand why UD is releasing guys like Bobrovsky or Karlsson on BAP 09/10 redemption cards, although they were far away from the NHL in that season. If UD can do this incomprehensible releases, why they can not release rookie cards for the guys who debuted in the last few weeks... Or there are some brand new rules? Thx a lot for your answers. Luk.

Those are XRCs in the Be A Player release. Im pretty sure in the NHLPA deciding on who gets put in that and not necessarily UD.

Travis Morin and Lee Sweatt are the last 2 eligible rookies without a card.

In another thread, you mentioned that there would be 45 rookie carryovers for the early 2011-12 products. That's not enough to fill the usual 50 RCs UD uses in Victory, thanks to Panini's quickness in getting some of these guys in their late sets. In the past, UD had more than 50 players to choose from, and they made some adjustments to the checklists between the early sets (such as Artifacts).

I hope UD limits the number of RCs in Victory/MVP, Artifacts, and OPC to a smaller number (30-35) in order to not simply overload the same 45 guys over and over again.

Well, the 2011-12 O-Pee-Chee preview PowerPoint was posted to Magazine Exchange recently, and has some interesting implications...

First...
Marquee Rookie Cards:
Cody Hodgson, Blake Geoffrion, Alex Stalock, Adam Henrique, Greg Nemisz, Jonathan Blum, Aaron Palushaj & more who recently made their NHL debuts!

Alex Stalock has earned RCs in late-season Panini products. Either UD will have to change their checklist, or we're looking at the return of non-RC rookies in UD products. They last did that (by mistake) in 2007-08 with Mathieu Roy, but haven't done it intentionally since 2002-03.

Key Inserts:
Rookie Update (Marquee Rookie cards:
Jacob Markstrom, Tomas Tatar, Mats Zuccarello, Mattias Tedenby, Evgeni Grachev, Ryan McDonagh, Travis Hamonic & more!

Cringing about the unmatched left parenthesis aside, it looks like they are planning to insert 2010-11 O-Pee-Chee Update RCs into 2011-12 O-Pee-Chee. Is the hobby really going to accept those cards as 10-11 rookies, when they won't be released until September? The PowerPoint has a mock-up picture of a Linus Omark RC using the 10-11 design.

Guillaume Desbiens had RCs in 09-10 (SPA, SPX amongst others) and in 10-11, he showed up in SPX and SPGU with "rookies" again.
