Hello everyone:
I am currently working on a project where I need to show one Gretzky autograph card. I was having difficulty choosing one, so I wanted to see what everyone considered an "iconic" Gretzky autograph card.

Maybe if I get several great choices, the next step will be to narrow down the choices and create a poll. My goal is to use the card that is decided here for my project.

Here are a couple conditions for the card:

1) Must be hard-signed
2) Must only be signed by Gretzky
3) Cannot have any additional memorabilia pieces.

Thanks for your suggestions,
Jeffrey Griffith

Hi Jeffrey. Here's my vote:

To me he has to be in a Oiler's uniform on the card.

Agreed wholeheartedly...I don't care for LA Kings or Rangers autos (St. Louis never happened) but he has to be in an Oilers jersey for it to be iconic.

This is only a few months old but EASILY my favourite Gretzky auto (is that not him in his rookie year as well?)...

I don't have a photo but I think my favorite was the 05/06 SP Authentic SOTT - some real nice picks to chose from already though - that Parkhurst Triple B posted is beautiful.

EDIT: That one's OK, but this is what I first pictured when I saw the word iconic; it just took me a couple minutes longer to find. :)

I'm a bit biased, but I love this one:

They actually used my scan for those "card magnets" on eBay. It's famous!

This thread delivers.

Most iconic:

94-95 UD BAP

Personal fave:

Unlike the other guys, for me it has to be in a Kings uniform. Forget the Oilers (who sold him out) and the Rangers (who had him for 5 minutes). :D

Is it most iconic to the general population or specifically card collectors? Big difference there.

Excellent suggestions so far!

I think I understand your point, but I think with the general population, and for this project, a Gretzky autograph is significant in it of itself. Since we on this board know the hobby, and I am partial to Gretzky, I want to make this card extra significant.
