Was waiting for SPA to rip some wax but since it got delayed another month I figured I'd grab a couple boxes to hold me over 'til then. Decided on Crown Royale and Certified since I like the design of both and Certified was from a fresh case, which was a bonus. Other things I considered were Elite, Contenders, and SPx.

I came to realize after opening these that I have come back to my roots and would call myself a true collector in the hobby again. I just want to rip packs open, the stuff inside didn't matter to me as much as it did say, a year ago. The guy that works at my LCS is about my age (23) maybe a little older, every pack I opened he had a comment for, "meh" "blah" "nice but not worth much" Needless to say it irritated the hell out of me and I'll either be looking for a new LCS to spend my money at or be buying there and brining it home so I can decide for myself how I did on a pull.

Anyway onto the scans...

First up the Certified:

Roberto Luongo Mirror Red 54/199
Kari Lehtonen Masked Marvels insert
Nicklas Lidstrom Certified Gold Team insert
Sergei Bobrovsky Mirror Gold Auto 19/25
Brendon Nash Freshman Signatures
David Booth Mirror Blue 15/99
Ryan Kesler Fabric of the Game Prime 5/25
Evgeni Malkin Mirror Blue Jersey 3/99
Marc-Andre Fleury Mirror Red Jersey 33/150

Crown Royale:

102 Patrick Roy Legendary Heroes
140 Lennart Petrell Rookie
71 Shane Doan Red Parallel
156 Matt Frattin Auto (redemption)
Gabriel Landeskog Heirs to the Throne Jersey
Trevor Linden Ice Kings insert
Ondrej Pavelec All the Kings Men Jersey

and the best hit from the breaks:

Tim Erixon Rookie Silhouette Patch /25
the comment on this one was "nice pull and patch but too bad it's a nobody"
I was thrilled!

Too bad about the guy at the LCS and his attitude, but it's always great to see a collector hit that point you mention - feeling truely back in the hobby and just enjoying ripping into the packs. That's definitely where I feel I am, it's been funny that as I've chased some insert sets lately I can rip into a $100 product like Limited, get a single insert I need that may only be valued at $5 and still be happy. I enjoy opening the product, and I enjoy getting a card I like/need - value is less important (always nice when it helps me buy more, but that's not the point).

Congrats and enjoy your future ripping!
