I was wondering if you fine individuals could give suggestions on displaying hockey cards. To be more specific, what are my options for displaying a 20-30 card complete set in a glass picture frame without visiting the custom frame shop?

I've seen a 10 card picture frame at my LCS but would love to display more than that.

Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Mack and c_bass. Much appreciated. The eBay link looks most practical unless michaels has something similar.

Michaels does have cheap sports cards frames that hold twenty cards that slide in and out. I spent like $25 a piece on the frames and they hang on the wall nicely.

There is film that u can apply to the glass that can protect cards from harmful light. Not sure if there is a retail version of this but i have called upon a company to apply some to windows in a museum setting on a building. This could help retain value, luster, & autographs for PC & displayed set. If anyone has any info on this, it would help not just this collection but many others'.

Actually that sounds perfect. I'm looking to display (2) 20 card sets. Any pics?

Yes I will take some pics now and post them up when I get a chance this evening. Look for coupons at Michaels, they usually have a flyer at the door where you can take 25% off or more of your purchase. Thats how I got mine, I bought three frames for like $60 or less I believe.

This case was purchased at Michaels for $12.00 with a half off coupon. I did have to pay for the cut matt, which was about $8.00 I think. The frame opens like a suitcase and connects like a hinge. It came with cotton batting and the cards are in screw downs.

Michaels has a sale on at my location (toronto area) where all frames and displays are buy 1 get the other of equal or lesser value free. So if your going with Michaels, go there fast sale ends in a week.

If your handy with tools you can build your own. Here's a few examples of frames I've built over the years for my sets.
f.y.i. Pro-Mold makes 2 types of UV Mag holders (the 2 types have a different degree of UV protection). I know from experience that on card auto's do & will fade over time, not sure I would trust any holder for long time exposure, thus I only display my game used sets & singles.

Beautiful work, krusin. They look perfect.

Thanks again fellas, I'm definitely gonna swing by Michaels but make sure I have my coupon first ;)

Thanks for sharing, gobuffalo. I think they look great. Do they only fit regular stock cards or can they hold (ITG style) memorabilia cards? Thanks again.

I just checked in your area for Michaels, they have the same sale as what I have here. You can pick up 2 of those display cases for the price of 1. Sale ends Aug 1st. I am heading back in a few days to pick up a couple more frames for some signed memorbilia projects I want to try.
