Your guess on a Gretzky OPC RC grade?

I will guess an 8 as the centering looks good, but the bottom corners and edges look a little rough. ( purely a guess as I never pay much attention to graded cards)

Wowow. Amazing card.

If the bottom left corner isn't too bad, I would say a 7.

The centering on a Beckett grade could knock it down if they think it was worse than 60-40.

I doubt it.

I dont think Wayne would post that and I know he has an eye for these things.
My guess is PSA 7.. and if someone can correct me.. that is one of the highest grades for the WG RC? There was some thread that showed the highest grade of his but I forget what that was.

Just for clarification, as posted up top, this was submitted to BVG, so it will not have subgrades but does deal in half-points (in fact, it comes back graded at all).

I'll end the suspense - this came back as a 6.5. I thought it would be at least a 7 or a 7.5.

The bottom left corner is dinged and the bottom right is touched, but aside from that there are no flaws in this card. The scanner put a bit of a mark at the top of the card, but there's nothing there. The sides are so clean I thought the card has been trimmed and hesitated buying it.

Having looked at some other 6.5 grades out there with rough cuts and four dinged corners, I think I got hosed.

Not quite. There is one PSA 10 and a bunch of 9's.

At least it is not trimmed! I would have guessed trimmed also. Is it sheet cut?

When it walked in, I was just stunned at how clean the edges were. I even explained to the guy why I was hesitating, and he said hold on a minutes and went out to his car. He came back and showed me a binder he was holding back because he didn't figure it would sell for much.

In it were about 70 more singles in the same condition as the Gretzky, all with the clean sides. He said he had bought all the cards from the same box in packs back in 1980 (or so).

The explanation I got from someone who worked for OPC at the time was that they must have just sharpened the blades, and the sheets must have been right at the top of the stack.

It's nice... only the corners you mentioned Wayne and a bit on chipping it looks like on the bottom. But the surface looks amazing... maybe the centering hurt it a bit too?

I was thinking 7.
