Like the title says, I am looking for a way to audit this list. I am sure many of the names on this list are of inactive collectors or collectors that no longer collect the player they are associated with.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this could be done easily. One suggestion that has been put forth is to make a new list each year.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Posting a new list each year may work, as I'm sure many of the posters are no longer with us here. To be honest, that thread gets buried with all the other stickies, and IMO doesn't get the exposure it deserves. Having said that, I'm not really sure how to make it easier to see, and get more attention? I know for myself, my needs are the same, but rarely do I even look at that thread. Maybe a sticky thread at more than one forum? I think it's in the hockey trade section now, maybe the hockey BST section would get more views, as it is much busier there? Any suggestions?

Three ways to do it (that I see). None are all that easy:

1. Look up each user, check their last login time, and if it's past a certain point - remove them.

2. Send a mass PM to everyone in the list. Even if you do it "As" then "Bs" (etc) so you're only do a bit a day. Tell them that they need to PM you within a week if they want to stay on the list (and also mention that they might get this message multiple times, if they're down for multiple players).

3. Send a mass PM to everyone on the board, letting them know that the thread is old & out date, and being removed. A new one will take its place, and if they want to remain part of it - they'll need to post in there again.

I would say general announcement that the current list is being scrapped, and new one will be assembled. Please contact with current info.

This, it eliminates waiting on people. If they are currently active in the hobby, they are probably active here and collecting and will see the announcement/PM.

If they don't collect that particular player anymore they can simply inform you of such at that time.

Good luck!

I'd agree with this idea.

If you are talking mass PM, I think you can only send a few hundred at a time on these V-bulletin sites, so tough to get the message to everyone. Would have to be posted in one or more of the forums, unless they allow you to send mass PM's now. I haven't had luck doing this on any of the sites I worked at with this in the past. When tried most of the members never got it. I know I've got site wide PM's from SCF before, so there must be a way to do it for everyone?
