For anyone who sells on sportlots I had a couple questions

- how is monthly/weekly traffic and sales?
- do you sell more base/low/mid/high end?
- how exactly does the fee structure work (didnt make sense to me)
- is this a viable/alternative option to eBay and COMC

any other input is welcomed

thanks

Was reading about it on some other forums last night actually. The fee structure is pretty confusing and I've read it explained 5 or 6 different ways. It seems the more dollar wise you sell the less percentage they take. Then the dollar value of the card is also taken into account. Say you sell a $25 card, the first $5 is one percentage then the next bracket is another percentage on the same card, etc.

Also read that you should start in vacation mode until you have a good sized inventory before going live so you have a big enough inventory to attempt to get out of the lowest bracket of money so you don't lose something like 75% to fees.

just asking - but isnt this thread (and similar threads) more appropriate in Hobby Talk - rather than Trader Report - considering its more about a site/selling tool in general -rather than an individual seller/buyer

EDIT - and i see its moved back - thanks to the mods

I've done a few auctions on Sportlots--if you don't really care about a card and want it gone, it's a good way to go. You can easily lose out on sale values relative to eBay/boards. As a buyer I like it as I've had some good snags there.

This sums it up perfectly. The one thing I HATE about using sportlots, and it is the main reason why I have given up on it is their "new" inventory management database. There are a few columns, but you can't tab between them and you have to click on each cell to enter in a price. The older system was much more user friendly as you could tab between most of the fields and the ones you couldn't you could hit the down arrow and enter in the prices.

The sellers who do the best over there have large quantities of cards from a particular set. If you open up a box of Series 1, you may get some sales, but if you open up several cases of Series 1 you will get a lot of sales. Quantity is king over, not necessarily quality.
