Jonathan Drouin is a Habs

I think tampa bay wins this one........... I strongly believe sergachev will be a pretty good defenseman in the league, he might even quarterback a powerplay....... I had the pleasure of watching sergachev here in Windsor and this kid who is still a prospect seems to have it all to be a good nhl defenseman
don't care for drouin , I just hope he doesn't bring his problems to a big city. fans will eat him up

As a Tampa Bay collector (among other teams) i am bummed. Sergachev is Russian born and a defense man which is 2 strikes against him, as it pertains to his collectibility.
To me his only upside is he is only 18 6' 3" 215.
Hockey wise the Bolts have some serious salary problems for the next couple of years so Sergachev on entry level contract helps.
The Canadians get a Quebec born player with a huge upside.
Expect to see some of my Drouin cards for sale/trade very soon (under no circumstance do i want even one card of Sergachev)

I don't think Drouin and Julien will get along AT ALL ...with Drouins attitude and past history of being a sort of me first guy I don't see it working out

I'm happy to have Drouin, but I'm curious if this turns out to be another McDonagh for Gomez deal for the Habs. Reading between the lines on this one: The Habs believe Juulsen is developing at least as well as anticipated and they have higher expectations for Beaulieu going forward.

MontreL gets some much need goal scoring and the bonus is he is French. However it comes at a high price. Sergachev Was awesome in the memorial cup, quite the talented prospect to lose from their system. Solid trade for Tampa, they have lots of forwards and could use a young D. Both teams win and get what they need.

I think this is a huge win for the Habs. Lose a Russian, gain a Franco? Drouin is a stud, Sergachev is alright but not proven. Drouin's "problems" were short lived. He produced huge after his holdout ended. Love this for the Habs.

Also don't dislike it for the Bolts. They get a good defensive prospect and a decent pick.

Interesting that Drouin has to be protected for the expansion draft while Sergachev does not, so this helps Tampa as they would have had to expose someone nice. I also read that the draft pick swap gets eliminated if Sergachev plays 40 games for the Bolts this year.

My best,

Ken

This is a great deal for the Habs and for Drouin as well, a great opportunity.

The Bolts move on, knock some cap space off, and hopefully develop what could be a very good defensive prospect.

Apparently the pics added to the deal only exchange if Sergachev plays 40 or more games next season...so sounds like just a straight across trade.

Good deal for both sides but I think Montreal wins this trade in the short term at least. Plus, they signed Drouin to a pretty decent deal at $5.5M for 6 years. If this kid continues to get better, watch out. He does have the pressure of playing in Montreal now though so let's see how he handles that

Drouin is really good, underrated? Sergachev has a lot of potential. This could be a mutually beneficial trade. Maybe Bergevin is learning after the trade last summer . . . sorry had to do that.

Seems like the Habs win this initially. The only thing that worries me about Drouin is his past "attitude" issues - the holdout, trade demand, etc. Not the first young stud to have done that, but not a good way to start your career. If he pulls that kind of crap in Montreal he won't last, French Canadian or not. Hard to say with Sergachev, but he could turn out to be a good pick-up for the Bolts too. Some of the talk about him is that he has top-pairing potential, so if that turns out to be the case, then Yzerman did good. But initially it looks like the Habs win this one. In five years, this might be a different discussion.

Short term: Great for both teams.

Long term: Tampa probably wins this trade.

Best way to build defense is through the draft and Montreal just traded their best prospect. Even if Drouin and Sergy both hit their potential and are equally great players Tampa still wins on the fact good defense is much harder to acquire than a good winger.

Props to Yzerman for the way he handled the Drouin situation too. He defused the messy holdout and got Drouin back on track well enough to boost his trade value big time.

Trade aside that Drouin contract is about the best deal the Habs could have hoped for. Less than Radulov money for a much younger player who can be just as good if not better. I think it covers a couple of Drouin's UFA years also. I hate to give the Habs credit for anything but that's a perfect signing.

It is irrelevant what Sergachev turns into. All teams are looking for the kind of skill that Drouin possesses and he is French Canadian. I think the price would have been even steeper if Tampa weren't facing salary and expansion draft issues, and that Montreal would have still tried to get him.

Top tier D carries a high price, ask Edmonton. Trading away a top tier D prospect is insane but sort of makes sense in this case. Habs were taking heat over the Subban - Webber trade especially after PK goes all the way to the finals. They get a great young player who is still somewhat NHL unproven but looks like he will be solid plus all French Canadian fans love French born players. Hit them in the heart to win them back. Lets hope they aren't done, Just Drouin won't solve all their issues especially if they don't sign Radulov which I don't see happening at his current demands. Radulov put up big numbers last year and that certainly wasn't enough, they will need both players and more

That all being said I don't usually watch Hab games but with Drouin now I will. He is an exciting player and I loves exciting highlight style goal scorers.

Drouin's problems were NOT short lived. He has been a head case since he refused to report to the Mooseheads when they drafted him.

Two teams, two refusals to play. No counting the sulking that he did when he got sent back to Jr. after being drafted that required the Bolts to send somebody to keep an eye on him in Halifax.

Drouin looked pretty awesome in the second half of the season last year. Getting him inked for under 6 million a year is pretty good for Montreal.

I suspect this means Galchenyuk gets moved, and a couple more deals get done before the expansion draft.

Seriously, Sergachev a five timer with who is already in the league? Other than Carey Price and Weber Montreal would have likely traded just about anyone else to get Drouin. I won't lower myself to your level of condescending comments as you might not comprehend it anyway. Good luck unloading all your Sergachev cards.

What in the world?

5 time Norris trophy winner? IRRELVANT!

(Hypberole obviously but your statement is about as dumb as it can possibly get when assessing a trade).
