Chicago may hit a homerun on this one. I can't believe Arizona would give up on Strome this quick. The guy has produced at every level including being over a PPG player and an all-star last year as a rookie in the AHL.
Have a really hard time seeing Schmaltz being a 1C for any NHL team, even the Coyotes. He cannot win a face-off to save his life and is not physical AT ALL. He avoids contact at all costs. He is a middle-six winger. As a die-hard Hawks fan, this is an accurate report. He just has not shown anything to indicate he can be a high-end center in the NHL, period.Schmaltz is on the last year of his ELC I believe, so he'd be getting a nice bump in salary this summer, which Chicago will have a hard time absorbing vs. a couple of guys that are still on their ELCs. Strome may reunite with Debrincat and Perlini can be a very useful player provided he's in a position to succeed.
Schmaltz gives the Coyotes their #1 C
