Has Anyone Ever Seen A Copy Of These Or Own One Of Them?

Hi everyone, I was just hoping to get some input on a few older and rare autograph sets to try and gather information.

I have been heavily interested in early cut signature cards over the past few years and have seen on Upper Deck's website that there were several amazing sets produced in the early 2000's. There are a couple of sets I have some info on and others I have never seen a single card from the set available for sale in 20+ years of collecting.

Any information if you have seen, know who owns, or can confirm you own yourself any cards from any of these sets would be amazing.

** I own the Lord Stanley 1/1 and I know Paul (johnse27) owns a Doug Harvey from this set. I have never seen any others.

** I own both the Jacques Plante & Eddie Shore cards from this set. I obviously am looking for the Terry Sawchuk but have never seen it.

** The Lord Stanley 1/1 sold for just over $1,000 back in 2016 and I am still kicking myself for missing out on it. The other cards are /5 I believe and I have seen Harvey and Abel available over the past few years. I have not seen any others from the set. I would be interested in acquiring any of them.

** I have never seen any of the cards from this set. I believe they are all 1/1s. Has anyone ever seen or owned one of these?

Adding this set to the mix. Only one I have ever seen was sold on COMC over 4 years ago: Babe Pratt

Those are tough and who's to say what's out in the wide world from that today. Also, you can't forget the 2001-02 UD Stanley Cup Champs set had two 1/1 cut signatures as well in it, one of Terry Sawchuk and one of Jacques Plante.

Of all of these cards, they could have been pulled and placed into someone's collectibles vault years ago...or, they could well still be buried in the packs, sitting and waiting at a hobby shop for no-one to ever buy it "because it's old and the rookies are worthless".

On a quick look, a copy of the Legendary Cut of Clarence Campbell and King Clancy sold back in Feb, 2016:

Definitely valid points Bruce. These are some amazing cards and so rare that I am just intrigued to find out as much as I can about when some of these have been sold and who might have some stashed away in their collections.

Thanks for finding the 2 worthpoint sales. I find that site difficult to navigate.

The Sawchuk and Plante you are referring to have been up on Ebay recently for crazy money and personally I just don’t think they were done as nicely as the sets I posted above. So for that reason I left them off the list.

I hadn't realized those two were already in the wild. I remember about 5 years ago, I came across a huge lot of sealed packs of that Stanley Cup Champs product at my local hobby shop and all I got in them was base cards from the set...lots and lots and lots of base. I was hoping for one of those cut autos.

The packs were so thin that you knew right away if you had hit a GU or not. Sadly, shops took advantage of that around here.

Wasn't the 02 SP Cut of Jack Adams the one that had the wrong Jack Adams on it? I can't remember which year it was but in the end, I believe UD ended up retrieving the card from the owner and making it right. Man, that was so long ago... while I remember busting that story on the Beckett boards, the details are definitely fuzzy...

I know for sure I had been thinking I had seen the Jack Adams before. This definitely sounds familiar.

Figgin' Chuck!!

Just kidding I know they were not open back then but it is always fun to take a shot at him.

Justin those are some amazing sets and I hope you are able to track them down.

Very interesting story. Any chance either of you have a link to the card or article?

I can't be sure if it was the same cut auto, but it was from around that time, and it was a Jack Adams. Someone posted a link to it from ebay I believe, and it was a typical cut autograph. But it came from a sheet and there was another name on it so I was curious and looked it up. One of the other sigs was John Quilty and another looked like 'Trudel'... There was A Jack Adams played for the Montreal Canadiens, one season in 40/41, but it wasn't the legendary coach, but John Quilty and Louis Trudel played on that same team. So I posed question was posed why Jack Adams would have signed a page between two rather obscure Habs. And the autograph didn't look like the Coach Jack Adams either...

I don't think there was ever an article done - it ended up primarily banter on the beckett board... I know Vegaspuck ages ago maintained a web page of errors that it was shown on, but that's long gone.

So no proof - just the ramblings of a middle aged man. :)

Sounds right. Might still be buried on here somewhere. Vegaspuck had it on his old site too.
