Fall Toronto Expo - Does It Happen?

We are all super excited for a return to a live Expo and yet I am struggling to get reasonable capacity approvals from the FORD government despite commitments to observe any/all covid protocols. So when I see these absurd exemptions for - of all things, strip clubs and bath houses - it makes my blood boil!?!
This is ACTUALLY included in the phase 3 guidelines and is an excerpt directly from the Provincial “Order in Council”:

"(3) Section 3 .1 ( 4) of Schedule 1 continues to apply to patrons of the bathhouse or sex club, except when physical distancing cannot be maintained while participating in the activities for which patrons normally frequent such an establishment. ( 4) Patrons of the establishment must wear a mask or face covering in a manner that covers their mouth, nose and chin during any period in which they come within two metres of another person, except, ( a) when masks or face coverings cannot be worn while participating in the activities for which patrons normally frequent such an establishment, or..."

SERIOUSLY?!?! They legislated exceptions for that?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Interesting to see that in this Provincial Order, Strip Clubs and Bathouses appear before “Schools and Private Schools” – that’s a pretty good indication of the current government's priorities and the strength of the relative lobby groups.

…and yet I can’t run a regular card show… What do you think about this??😡

He's not really wrong. There are quite a lot of priorities that are questionable in Ontario right now.

Yes there are plenty of questionable things happening right now even though we are supposedly in a fourth wave. Like why are we having an early election for no good reason. I was really hoping I would be able to attend at least one show this fall.
 
To me, having to show that you're fully vaccinated to enter the building would solve all of the issues. But you'd need a federal vaccine passport to do that. Not sure if that will be available by November. You'll need show that you're fully vaccinated to fly within Canada come October, so that's the way we're heading.

I don't disagree with this. That said: there were protests against vaccine documentation measures in Montreal over the weekend.
 
Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment just announced vaccinated fans only in all their buildings included Scotiabank Arena starting in September.

Now let's see what the show does. I would assume the Hall of Fame cermony would be the same.

I have no issue with VP.. for protesting.. thats a different ball of wax.. protest away from my kids ..
 
If the Leafs and Raptors can have 19,000 fans in less square footage than the Expo. There is ZERO reason for this show to not happen. And in the Arena, fans are eating and drinking left and right. So the expo should be a go.
 
They need to get on board with vaccine passports
OHL requires them
Private companies requiring employees
Just go all in and let's get events happening
 
Got a email from Sportauthentix that autograph signings for the Expo are coming soon. So looks like the Expo is on!!!
 
So according to Steve, the Expo is still a go but it will be moved to a different hall (Hall 5 is rented long term) so it'll likely be a smaller venue. Just waiting to hear official word on what the restrictions will be. If Ontario goes to vaccine passports then I can see them allowing a pretty packed house as long as vendors and attendees show proof. It's looking good!

Yeah I just heard today it's very likely we will have to deal with the vaccine passport/electronic proof of vaccination here in Ontario by that time. But who cares! The Expo is still The Expo. Will be fun.
