Well, it has been about 2 years to the day of my last post here, and am trying to get back into the hobby. School really set me back with the time/money it takes to enjoy everything. As sad as it may seem, it has also been about that long since I have cracked anything open :| I will mainly be trying to finish off the set that I was working on way back when (03/04 black diamond...lol), and of course datsyuk/zetty/hudler.

With that said, what have i missed?!? Who are the hot rookies, sets, etc.

The hot thing is The Cup, a 350$/pack set with 1 RC AU/Patch per pack. But, we have a new 200$/pack release this year: OPC Premier.


Price of wax is still inflating.

jesus. i miss my $2 packs from way back when (even that may be a lot compared to what some may have paid) But i was thinking about crackin open a box here to get back into the swing of things. I've been looking for something in my price range (college student. lol) and decent bang for your buck. I have always been partial to the Black Diamond sets, how is that looking this year?

OPC Hobby is a great product for people on a lower budget.
UD I and II are still good too.
 
For this year... like odjickfan said, OPC is a fun break, 36 packs, lots of parallels, inserts, buybacks, rookies... $2 a pack or $70 a box. SPx was a big hit this year too... $7 a pack or $125 a box (could be cheaper of course). This year's rookies... Kane, Toews, Price, Mueller, Gagner. Last year's Malkin, Stastny, Staal, Kopitar, Kessel. Others too, but those are some of the bigger names to pull. Welcome back into the hobby (ie; illness? lol) and HobbyInsider!
