With the OPG over at Beckett going to crap, where is the best place to get a good list of all the cards a player has? I'm not a big fan of hockeydb's card lists because they usually miss a few, so if you have any other sources let me know.

Thanks,

Ryan

i believe you can still get the list from beckett. you just won't get the prices.

I am lazy though. I like things in a list format, not the separate block links for each card on multiple pages that take forever to load like they had there. (If there is a way to get it in a list I didn't have the patience to figure it out). Plus there is a 99% chance I will never go to that website again, thus leaving me with this predicament.

I'm in the same boat ... the big problem I see is that even in "list" view (if you had the patience to wade through multi-page lists with only a handful of cards per page - imagine how many pages a Gretzky list would take), the best option you have is to put them in order by "year", but they still remain all jumbled up and aren't in any type of set order within that year. It's just a complete and utter mess compared to how it used to be presented ...

So nice that they took the time to ask what people wanted ... they must really believe that the only thing that people used their OPG for was to look up pricing on a single card, one at a time. :|

Would be intresting to see if there is some better solution then becketts list.
i collect Kenny Jonsson , (but he left NHL a few years ago. sad i cant get any of the new cool series they do.. =((..)
But like upper decks page, dont even show all pure UD released, i got more from beckets list. regarding UD releases then their own.

kenny got like 440++ cards what i know of. and i got the most, but then.. how do i know if the list is incomplete..

Hi there,

Are you just worried about what the list looks like (like the block thing you mentioned before)? Here's what I've done in the past: I call up the entire player list at Beckett. I highlight the entire list and then copy it and paste it into a Word (or whatever word processor) document. When I paste it, I paste it as "unformatted text". That gets rid of all the blocky things from the site. Then you would just have to go through it and edit it as you please.

I hope this helps. I apologize if this wasn't what you were talking about!

Take care,
Bernie

Exactly what I used to do. However, with the redesign at Beckett making the price guide a mess that is no longer possible. There is no 'list' to copy/paste anymore. You have to copy each individual card title and go through pages upon pages of cards if the player has a lot.

Thats how i did more or less.. but i converted it to excel sheet.

my problem is that beckett's list doesnt look complete..
hockeydb only show like 140 cards for me..

well i guess thats abit of the collecting, to find cards not in the lists..

I think you can still do what you want to do on Beckett. Here is what a small section of what my Weber collection looks like on the new Beckett.

Recently Added2005-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects #161 Shea Weber

Recently Added2005-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects Autographs #A-SW Shea Weber •

Now on excel I can take out the recently added and raw stuff and my list looks like

2005-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects #161 Shea Weber $0.50
2005-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects Aspiring #ASP9 R.Bourque/S.Weber $40.00
2005-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects Autographs #A-SW Shea Weber $15.00

First even if that isnt want you want I would switch your card search results to list instead of the gallery. Most people dont need to see pictures of every card they look up. Especially since most of the cards dont even have pictures.

If that is what you want all you have to do is type in the players name in the search box. Click the Orange add circle that is next to the players name at the top of the list when the collection comes up. Click the yes to add to your organize on the pop up box. When it goes to your organize type the players name in and the cards will come up and transfer them into a new folder.

If that is what you want but dont understand my how to just ask.

Hope that helps
Scott

hockeydb has been very disappointing for me.
My youngest daughter has an impressive Iginla collection and their list of cards is, I'd say, only about 2/3 complete. I have to write in the remainder.

I like UD's format, but it doesn't include non-UD products (obviously) and goes back only so many years, not appropriate for veteran players.

The most complete player lists I know about is in Charlton's annual guide. I usually copy it every year for players I collect heavily - hard copy form unfortunately - and carry it with me.

Doesn't help us spreadsheet guys, but it's at least complete. Maybe Charlton needs to put their annual guide in electronic form.

Michael.

Got it. Thats actually not too terrible for individual players. I'd still rather have it the way it was though. For sets it seems like its a little tougher (I tried the 05-06 Debut Patch set), I couldn't get it to have just that set and not the Auto's /10 and other cards not listed with it. Oh well, for new sets I can use UD's website for the list. I most definitely won't be buying the OPG's anymore.

thanks,

Ryan
