I'm looking to collect a Jersey set and would like some opinions

Hey guys and gals,

I'm thinking of collecting a Jersey set this year. so far the front runner has been 07/08 Cup base parallel jerseys /25, that is until I saw the design of the 08/09 UD series 1 jersey cards! I really like the design of the cards and the photography is great, only issue is that there's some guys not on the list that I think should be there (I'm sure they'll be in series 2).

I'd like to get a set together with a nice variety of current and retired players, some vibrant color to the cards, and most of all, I don't want to break the bank on the set. Any suggestions of sets I should take a look at would really be appreciated

To anyone who does collect the UD jerseys, are there many short prints and if there are, how accessible are they?

It always seems there's a couple SPs, and you do find a lot of competition for them.

I didn't have all that much trouble with the SPx Winning Materials and Winning Combos. None were overly expensive, and they did hit virtually every big modern era player sans Gretzky.

If there are SSp's like the Lemieux and Yzerman in 05/06, it might hit you in the pocket pretty good.

Although it looks like the Lemieux in Series 2 which would easily fetch $200 back in the day has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY, I seen one end for $9.99 I'm pretty sure the one before it ended close to $100

Very interesting. I noticed an Yzerman from 05/06 for sale at 100 bucks. I bet it's been available for a while at that price. I can see guys going hard after these cards early, but I imagine there'll be significant drops in value, and if I'm going to do this, it's going to be a year long project with focus on picking up cards at reasonable prices
