1964-65 Topps Hockey set of 110..$4.95

No you are not dreaming. You are awake and reading a post on HI about a dealer selling the 196465 Topps NHL set of 110 cards in near mint - mint condition for $4.95. The dealer was Bruce Yeko of Wholesale Cards, located in NYC and the year was 1965. Man had not landed on the moon. BTW the price was not the starting price on eBay.

Yesterday while moving some archival material I came across a small file of old dealer price lists. On page 3 of a type written price list from Wholesale Cards, issued in 1965 there was a small section listing available hockey sets and singles. The complete listing is below:

I have standardized the issue description to accepted formats.

Considering what I paid for the near set I bought this week, I think this is an excellent reason to start work on that time machine.

Looking back I'm sure they were expensive for some families to afford but look at the return now if those cards are in shape. Thanks for sharing

Perspective

In the late 1960's the typical summer job for high school students paid in the $32-40.00 range for a 40 hour week. My father, workng construction in 1969 grossed just under $6300.00 for a 50 week work year

A high school cafeteria lunch ranged in the $0.25-0.50 cent range. A glass of pop was $0.10

When you break it down then, the set values have grown exponentially. I wonder if a can get a Flux Capacitor off of ebay.
