07/08 Artifacts Rookie Redemption Parallels???

I redeemed a ton of the 07/08 Artifacts Rookie Redemptions last year, and all came back #/599. I had never seen parallels like there were for the rookies included in the original set, until now. I was perusing some completed Lucic auctions and came across this:

Milan Lucic Bronze /10

I also found some other guys that were part of the Rookie Redemptions with these parallels /100, /50, /25 & /10:

Patrick Kane Blue /25

Peter Mueller Gold /50

David Jones Bronze /10

Carey Price Silver /100


What the heck is Upper Deck doing??? This really pisses me off. These redemptions have been out about 1 full year now, and this is the first I've come across these parallels. I redeemed about 60 of these rookie redemptions, and obviously received only the /599 versions.

Anyone know whats going on, and why it seems Upper Deck is sending these parallels out now? Did they run out of ones /599??

I think they made more redemptions than cards. Last year they were numbered 599 while other years they were 750. Sounds like a goof up to me.

These redemptions were for the people who had redeemed the card only to find out their card inventory was depleted. They printed up parallels for them.

One of the things covered in last month's UD chat was that they originally had come back junk, and they needed to have them redone, if I remember correctly.

Of course, there's no excuse for this year's redemptions.

Tell me about it. I missed the /50 Kostitsyn parallel... got the 25 and 10 incoming though and have not seen a 100 yet

Kinda sound like me. I have the David Jones /50 and /25. I missed the /10 shown above because I only searched David Jones and his first name wasn't in the title. But I haven't seen a /100 yet either.

Derek, I was lucky enough to land that Lucic. I too wish they had not done this but us player collector's have to roll with the punches I guess.

I recently redeemed the Mark Staal from the Artifacts product and was told to contact UD as they were out of stock. We agreed to a replacement list and I was told that the replacements were being shipped as we spoke!! (like UD works that effeciently!!). 2 months later I receive the Mark Stall RC #/100

Bunch of ud bs if you ask me, as a player collector it stinks, to think you have all the cards and then ud sends out parallels as redemption replacments? How would you ever get a hold of the card you need for your collection if first, you didnt know they exist, and second, when you find out they have all been bought up. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What concerns me more than anything is the fact they were an after thought after the product was printed, packaged, and released. Looks like the old "Fire up the presses boys, we need more 90-91 UD French" still holds true.

Its completely moronic of them to do this.
As being a Backstrom Collector and finding this out leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I wish I held onto the redemptions till now.
What are they going to do this year? The same thing.....lol

Just not happy at all.
