09 BTP replacing Mask with Masked men...thoughts?

So 09 ITG BTP is replacing the very popular "MASK" insert set with a "MASKED MEN" set. I love the Mask set and am sad that it is being replaced. I guess ITG thought they needed to change the set even thought the new Massked men looks really BLAH. to me. What is your thoughts, good, bad?

I'm OK with it... it had really run its' course in my mind.

It's a beautiful set top-to-bottom though.

Having completed 5 years of MASKS I-V,I was
kinda hoping those will be "Dufex" cards also, but don't see that mentioned anywhere.
Have to wait and see I guess.

It looks like only a minor adjustment, now featuring faces inside the mask as well. Any word regarding whether or not they're nice and shiny again this year?

I'm not sure I like this decision. I guess it's alright as a one-time thing, but I sure do hope they go back to the regular masks next year.

There's always going to be enough neat new masks coming out to feature 30 new designs every year.

One thing I'd like to see is the obvious image of the mask on the front (in shiny dufex) ... but on the back, put a picture of the other side of the mask too.

I agree the dufex could make or break it for me. However if they are dufex they will probably look like last years ITG Ult base cards.

Maybe after the quality control problems last year they decided to move away from it. In my 12 boxes, three or four of them had the film peeling off. I would either want them to fix the problem or go with something else. Looks like they went with something else.

I really like it myself. I was tired of the same mask inserts year in and year out. The new Masked Men look good

I'm glad they're mixing it up this year instead of staying with a set just because it's popular.
Anytime a manufacturer keeps making a popular set over and over it becomes stale, a good example is the Property Of stick cards from the cup.

I don't see there being any issue with it. They're still great mask cards with the major difference being that they're featured with the player wearing it. I suppose the set could still be called The Mask with the only twist being that the player's face is shown. But I think for that reason the name change makes it more personal.

i'm ok with it as well, and i like that it's now a 50 card set! more fun to put together!

I really love it, I wasnt planning on doing the mask set but now I see the cards I think I might.

i am happy about it as jhonas Enroth is in it and besides the base card he has no other North American cards...

If Dr. Price doesn't get around to responding to this thread directly... he stated in an email to me that "We are using a new techology, a mirrored foil board. Wanted to try something different."

Personally, I can't wait to build this set... it's not going to be easy, but it's going to be fun!

I've done the past four Mask sets, and will be passing on this one. I personally don't like the look of them. It also doesn't help that this product wasn't widely opened last year, so the prospect of it being broken less this year along with a bigger set of cards makes it less appealing than in previous seasons.
