10/11 SPGU: 4 seasons of SPGU and 06/07 Letter Marks Redemptions still outstanding!

2010-11 SPGU marks the 4th release of this product since 06-07. 06-07 is significant, specifically because in that release there were several of the then new Letter Marks cards which were redemptions. Initially, there was little concern regarding these redemptions. Over time however, it became apparent that those redemptions were going to take a while longer than average.

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong here), that class of 06-07 SPGU Letter Marks redemptions stands as the largest group of cards from one product which is still outstanding, and is certainly now one of the longest lived, yet to be resolved screw ups in Upper Deck's long history of really impressive screw ups.

Players included in the Letter Marks redemptions set which have yet to be delivered include (feel free to correct me here too):

Wayne Gretzky
Bill Ranford
Dino Ciccarelli
Phil Kessel
Guillaume Latendresse

and I believe there were 2 others, whom I do not recall.

Chris Carlin himself has said "these redemptions will be made, but unfortunately they are not a priority right now." in an email to me when questioned about these redemptions. That was in 2009 I believe.

This is really just a vent, but feel free to correct me on any facts, or to note that you have, or have had any redemptions from this set outstanding, and of which player.

I gave up on my Hull number version and got a nice Yzerman subbed in. I wonder if they are just big sheets with letters stiched on or if there is some reason they're hard to get with players on.

I am pretty sure Hejduk was a redemption in that product also and I have never seen a live version of them. I also have only seen about 5 redemption cards also.

Man i feel for you, wether its the Kopitar shield that was never produce or the 14 + Lettermarks of your PC player thats you are still waiting for 1000 days after the been redeemed.Its enough to be fed up by the hobby.

I waited until August of 2010 for my Ranford. The status was then updated, that the card would NOT be made, and to contact Upper Deck for a replacement.

Can't say anything about the other cards in there, but I suspect these will never show up.

This is very common from UD.Almost every time I've had an auto redemption due from Upper Deck, the same player has been "live" in a later product, but they cannot seem to fill my redemption.

Finally threw in the towel middle of last year on my Gretzky Lettermarks. Ended up getting a gretz/lemieux dual out of it so not too bad but still. Got nothing but stories every time I looked for an update stating "This is still a priority for us and we are still planning on making these"

I heard that story more than 10 times. Pretty sad.

You saw them giving out the 07/08 Gretzky Lettermarks I believe (Showed with the NY Rangers).

The 06/07 had the much more desirable (at least imo) Oilers.. Or at least it was supposed to have...........
