With all the hatred against all companies today I would like to focus on why I love this hobby. All companies makes mistakes but with this show I will focus on some great things instead. We start off with some of the non existing companies

Donruss always were my favorite company when I was young I don't know why I just liked their stuff. The 97/98 Elite set is probably the hardest ever set to build a master set of.

Donruss Elite 97/98 Back to the future Jaromir Jagr and not scanned Dan Cleary

We continue with Leaf. The 97/98 Leaf set contains the only game used stuff from Leaf.

Be a player. WOW just wow the early BAP stuff makes me jump up and down. This was a time when a jersey card made you happy.

Be A Player 98/99 All Star Legend Gordie Howe Auto Jersey

And we finish of with Pinnacle. To you old timers - remember twenty years ago when we saw that dufex. No matter how many times I see those old dufex cards a love them..

Pinnacle Be a Player 96/97 Lindros Die Cut Auto

Now onto the company who lost their license

Second value bla bla bla. Open a box of Score and don't smile when you hit two or three inserts/parallels in a pack. I really like how Panini turned out to be a trend setter of sweet cards the last years.

And now to a company that keeps producing whatever... ITG. Well their photos and designs aren't the best BUT their game used stuff makes all the other companies wanna cry.

Superlative v3 Stick Rack Vanbiesbrouck

Superlative v3 Emblem Ovechkin - When I pulled this I was shaking trust me..

If only the monopoly guy was here... Jokes aside. Upper Deck has been THE company no one can say anything else.

So come on. Let us focus on the fun. This is a hobby and you aren't supposed to make your money back on breaking boxes. To me a box is a lottery ticket some are bad and some are outstanding. I don't think you go back to store complaining about how you didn't win the power ball lottery. Feel free to post some of your own cards. And comments are always welcome.

Very nice stuff. I remember opening a bunch of 97/98 Donruss Elite. Was ecstatic when I pulled a Back to the Future Auto of Teemu Selanne/Patrick Marleau (that was sold long ago).

Great thread!

I for one will really miss Certified. I know it was parallel hell but it was fun to try to put together rainbows of your favorite player.

I think we know my thoughts on Pro Set. I do not know why Upper Deck base cannot take on the same look as a Topps base set in baseball where you throw in a couple of photo variants to make looking at the basecards more exciting box #2-12 in a case.

There are really only two "Set Collector" products that are on the market now, OPC and UD Base Set.

Panini would probably of had more of a following if they could of fixed their issues with collation. I opened up a case of RA and there wasn't even one complete base set in the whole case.

Great thread love all of them. I searched a long time to get the Jagr/Cleary as I collected Cleary. End up getting 2 in 10-15 years of looking. Think I dropped over $200 on them. I still have never hit any of those 97 Leaf Lindros Gu. I would still love to add some of them, some day lol. I also love the old Bap gu, great cards.

Thanks for showing them, great memories.

Alex we have the same taste when it comes to this hobby.
Some absolutely stunning cards. I have seen most of them live and even some of them get pulled live.

Thanks for reminding us what this hobby is all about :)

Awesome stuff! Alot of it I have never seen before. The one and only card that I still have that started me in collecting is this. My dad picked me up from school when I was 11 and handed me one pack of Heros and prospects and I pulled this. Probably
The best pull of my life. Not the most high end, or worth a lot to anyone else. Maybe a 10$ card on eBay but I wouldn't sell it for $100.

This is a great post! Made me go back and look at some of my older cards that I have! Lots of good reasons to be a passionate collector! Thanks for reminding some of us!
