100th Grey Cup - Nov 25th

Toronto and Calgary met twice in 2012 with the Argonauts taking both contests by a combined 61-50 margin. The Boatmen opened their home schedule against the Stamps with a 39-36 win at Rogers Centre where Drew Tate sustained an injury to his non-throwing shoulder that would sideline him for the majority of the regular season. The now-departed Cory Boyd had a big game for Toronto, who won on a last second field goal, while Larry Taylor set a new franchise mark for combined yards.

The second meeting featured Kevin Glenn at quarterback for Calgary up against an Argos offence that was fresh off a bye week and having handed the keys to the run game to Chad Kackert following the release of Boyd. The Argos defence held off a late-game surge to earn and eight-point win.

I remember an early 70's Grey Cup clash with these two teams. When Calgary
plays in TO it's party time for sure. Downtown was pretty wild for a few days leading up to the game. The stories you may have heard about Stamps fans actually riding horse's in the Royal York lobby are true, lol. Couldn't tell you who won the game but a good time was had by all.

Dan.

I remember the horse at the Royal York. I was telling that story at work today. Only in the CFL!

Stampeders told by Toronto hotel to hold their horse

Staff at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on downtown Front Street West refused to allow the Calgary players to parade the horse — named Marty — through the hotel, as they had done in 1948.

"We're locked out," said the horse's rider, Fletcher Armstrong, chair of the Calgary Grey Cup committee.

The Calgary contingent was persistent, though, and tried to persuade staff to let them enter with the horse, which waited outside the locked front doors at around 10:10 a.m. amid reporters and curious onlookers.

But it was not to be, despite chants of "Let us in!" from the Calgarians and sympathetic locals.

Stampeders' horse allowed on field for Grey Cup

The CFL and Calgary Stampeders have reached a compromise on the team's mascot. The league announced that one of the Stamps' horse mascots will be on the sidelines at Rogers Centre on Sunday when Calgary faces the Toronto Argonauts in the 100th Grey Cup.

Although Quick 6 won't be running down the sideline after a Stamps touchdown. They'll have their mascot in Roger's Centre.
