Hi all,

I recently acquired a pretty massive PC card (Gibson YG HG) and I had a question about it. Its been quite some time since I had a HG so I can't really remember what it looks like.

My question, other than it saying "HIGH GLOSS" and the numbering on the front of the card, is what makes it a High Gloss. Should it look more glossy? If I compare to a YG buyback I have, the silver border and the words "YOUNG GUNS" does look like a rainbow. Is that it?

Again its not like I have 50 other high glosses to compare to so I was hoping someone here could help.

Thanks in advance for your help

Yes more glossy. It’s like it’s highly glossy.

This is extremely helpful thank you.

Mods can you please move this to the hobby discussion forum. I posted it in Buy/Sell by mistake.

Not all years say "High Gloss" on them but the John Gibson does right above the words young guns.

Here is a google link for search of John Gibson young guns high gloss.

https://www.google.com/search?q=joh...oHIAQ&client=firefox-b-d#imgrc=JqF2EoZGej2tyM

There is one currently on ebay for sale 6/10 high gloss.
Do the search , click on images near the top.

Checked the population report and only 147 BGS graded John Gibson cards from 2013-14 Upper Deck
Checked PSA population report and only 69 total graded

Like not all have the words high gloss on them like this Landeskog.
Even if it does say high gloss on the card BGS population may list it as exclusives spectrum such as 2016-17 Brayden Point.

Thank you. It looks like its just the silver border and words YOUNG GUNS as well as the numbering that are highlyglossy. I was just wanting to confirm that the rest of the card looks like a regular YG.

The HG is a parallel of the base card. As the name suggests, the card stock on the entire front of the card features an insanely glossy finish. They have been called High Gloss most years, but there was a stretch of a few years they were "Exclusives Spectrum" for whatever reason. After a few years of that, UD figured it out and went back to the iconic High Gloss name. Generally speaking, yes, they use gold rainbow foil on the High Gloss cards...I think it has been that way every single year, but could be wrong.

Thanks. What I am trying to understand for sure is if the entire front of the card is supposed to be glossy or just parts (numbering and YOUNG GUNS). The entire front of this card most definitely is not glossy. The area above YOUNG GUNS (the picture of the player) looks like a regular ol' card. Maybe that's how they did it in 13-14, but that is exactly what I am asking.

Does anyone have a 13-14 Young Guns High Gloss of another player that they could look at?

Also it looks like the numbering (08/10 in this case) has a small border around it, almost as if it were a sticker auto. Do other 13-14 Young Guns High Glosses have the numbering this way as well?

Yes, like I said, the entire front surface of the card uses a highly glossed card stock, the entire thing, not just parts of it. And the serial number is done with a foil stamp of sorts, that's why you're seeing a little box. They're just more apparent on certain cards than others.

Cool. I'm at a bit of a crossroads here now because the whole card is definitely not highly glossed. This is fun.

Actually, now that I think about it, there actually were some years that were a little different I think, around the years of the Exclusives Spectrum cards. Don't have any from those years in hand that I'm aware of...know I own the Hjalmarsson cards form those years, but I don't have them with me.
