Joel Embiid has signed a 5yr. $148M extension with the 76ers. In three years he has played 31 GAMES, all of those coming last season. He is a supreme talent, but he has had repeated, some may say, chronic back, and foot issues. Not good for someone that is 7" tall.

Apparently the actual contract is something like 30 pages long, and as the article points out, there are opt outs for the team, if specific injuries occur. But for all of the complaining that some hockey fans do about young superstars getting big contracts, this one takes the cake. No question.

I don't get this one.

I watched the Raptors just run circles around his teammates the other day, and it seems like they gave this enormous deal to half a player.

A minutes restriction? Not eligible to play back to backs?

It is a farce of a contract and he will play two thirds of the season on a team that is going nowhere.

You're also telling me that they had NO IDEA that their first round pick couldn't shoot free throws to save his life?

Is the money coming from the team or some insurance?

The team, the opt outs, insurance, only come if he re-injures feet/back.

If he actually plays two-thirds of the season the Sixers will be in the mix for a playoff spot. With regards to Fultz, the reports are that he changed his motion during the summer, doesn't specify if it was pre, or post draft. The more concerning thing than the actual motion are the rumors that he did it because his shoulder's not right.
