I don't know a lot about Vintage. Have a couple questions. I'm thinking of putting together a set for my father who was born Feb 1959.

Since that is the 1958-59 season that is the year I will do.
Was there only Topps and O-Pee-Chee then or was there any others?

What are the details on each Topps vs OPC as far as cost to build one over the other, ease of completion? One generally collected over the other?

No OPC, there was only Topps and Parkhurst back then. Topps has the Bobby Hull RC, BV $3000. The Parkhurst set would be less expensive to put together because of that. Topps was Boston, Chicago, Detroit and New York, 66 cards. Parkhurst was Red Wings, Canadiens and Leafs, 50 cards. Good luck, I just finished putting together the 1968 Topps set over about a year and it was a lot of fun. Can't beat the vintage hunt....

Topps is 66 cards has the Hull as mention above

Parkhurst is 50 cards

for ease, it depends on what are your sources of vintage
