1972-73 OPC High Numbers Question...

It was a series issued later in the year, so they probably anticipated less interest from collectors. Kind of odd, considering that it was the only series that had the WHA cards and there were four teams based in Canada that season. They're not easy, but they're not as tough to complete as some people might think.

The important thing to remember when completing this set is that the checklist card (#334) has two versions. The first one has some player names replaced with "More WHA Stars" was actually supposed to be card #208 in the set and was issued in second series packs. The actual high number version lists the players by name.

Also, people believed for years that the WHA players were more scarce than the NHL high numbers. The uncut sheet proves otherwise as all cards were produced equally on it.

Thanks for the info on the checklist. I'm currently building the set and I was unaware of this. Now I know, thanks!

For years, I thought my set was complete with just one of the variants. Once I had someone check the Series 2 and 3 uncut sheets, I had my answer.

The real challenge is going to be trying to get the rest of the WHA logos and the Islanders logo that I need. Those have proven to be incredibly tough with each passing year!

I've been trying to pick up some of the WHA logos as well, but you're right, they pop up rather infrequently.
