Pretty new release from UD.. parallels the UD premier baseball release

In this release you are guaranteed a letterman auto, 1 other auto, 1 GU and 1 draft pick redemption fro this years draft!

7 cards in the pack for $250+

first pack yielded

Dampier base #/199
Daniel Gibson letterman auto letter G #/99
Cazzie Russell auto
Lenny Wilkens auto #/50
Lebron James GU 1/75
Jerry West remeption Auto MVP winners!
and the #3 draft Pick.. redemption.. Al Horford!

pack 2 really redeemed me:mad:

Tom Chambers base
A redemption for the letterman auto Jorge garbajosa
Jason Kidd Decades auto #/90
Michael Jordan GU #157/199
Shaq GU #/199
Rookie redemption for draft pick 25.. some dude named almond

and the 3rd redemption in that box.. was a card that said MVP Winner-MJ!

and that folks was the redeeming quality of that box.
Auto "REdemption" of Michael Jordan!

Now lets play some stats

I got 14 total cards and 5 of them were redemptions that is better than 33 %

In the second box alone I got 3/7 redemptions a little under 50%

I just don't understand why UD keeps doing redemptions. They know fans hate them but yet they continue to flood us with them. Is any of the cards available for hockey cards?

there are pictures in my 1st bucket right on front page and the dampier card is gorgeous actually.. in colonels uni with aba ball!

and everything would be for trade except jordan and west and wilkins

All of the rookie cards are redemptions and that is by design. They wanted to include rookies in this set but the cards were designed long before the draft took place. Due to the timing of the release, its either redemption or elimination. Topps Finest has been doing this for years, this is nothing new to the hobby.

Also, these cards are hard-signed. No one else is doing hard-signed veterans. With the hard-signed sets come player issues. They return cards late, lose them, forget them, whatever. UD is the only one out there at least making a decent effort to get hard-signed cards. If you hate redemptions, stick to the sets with stickers. Its unfortunate, but this is the price you pay for the quality.

Nice pull on the Jordan. You would think with his contract with UD and what they must be paying him that he could at least get his stuff back to them in time! It seems like an awful lot of his stuff is redemptions though...

Do i need to show you all the sticker redemptions I have gotten from UD over the years? or Replacements?

I have no qualms against sticker autos.. I have never complained about them ever..

Again, lets talk about the price I pay for quality..

For $260.00 for 7 cards Im ok with a draft pick redemption I knew there was going to be one in there before I plopped my money down.

But are 2 of the other 6 cards being redemptions Fair? or Ludicrous?

My friend busted 8 boxes of this yesterday

19/56 cards were redemptions.. 8 of those were draft picks and 11 were autos or letterman! So he spent 2K on a UD product and to be honest what should he really expect with over 30 % of redemptions being replaced! so that means 3 or 4 of his "redemptions" could possibly be replaced through no fault of his!

In the world of Upper Deck, you simply make a correlation to a gambling hall when you lay your money down.. Easy come.. easy go!!

I agree the redemptions are frustrating. I'm personally down to only 2 on list, but at one point I had 3 pages....

The point I was trying to make is that UD has only a certain amount of control when it comes to hard-signed autographs. They have contractual agreements with players, they pay them for the autographs, and low and behold, some players just can't get their stuff back to them on time. My 3 boxes of Chronology had 3 redemption cards and I agree its a bit ridiculous. But I really fault the players more for not turning in their cards. I don't fault UD as mush as they're just trying trying to give the collectors what they want, which is a hard-signed autograph set.

I would prefer to wait for a hard signed card than get a sticker auto.
