Firstly, thanks to Darren (dahabsfan) for pointing out the auction that was running for this card:

I eventually would have seen it but maybe not in time to strike a very reasonable deal.

Next, don’t ever say persistence doesn’t pay off, lol!! I saw these two Howe autos listed over 6 months ago as a lot of 3 with another one that I already had. I would have bought the lot but only saw it as a completed auction. I asked the seller if he would sell the two I needed but he said he decided to keep them in his collection.

I emailed him 3 months later and he informed me that they still weren’t available as his entire collection was now focused on Gretzky and Howe…..bummer.

I emailed him again last week (6 months after the original auction ended) to see what was up and he was just getting ready to sell off some of his collection to buy an ATV. I made him a fair offer, he accepted and I now have these two beauties to add to the set:

Also, a Guy Lafleur “5 Time Stanley Cup Champion” custom script surfaced on ebay recently. It’s the first one that a lot of people have seen so that brings the set up to 28 cards that are known to exist. It went for a ridiculous price though so I wasn’t able to pick it up :(

So with that set addition and the 3 cards that arrived today, I decided to update my set collage and maybe use it as my sig to see if I can scare the last few up.

Here’s the updated sig:

If anyone has actually seen ANY different custom scripts than the ones seen here, please let me know. There was never a definitive checklist released so I need all the help I can get identifying all the different ones out there.

Thanks for the look guys and comments appreciated,
Shaun

Great Howe's Shaun! Awesome looking.

What did Comrie put for his Customization? All I see is his normal autograph...

Wow, those a couple of beauties, and that set is just awesome. Good Luck with the completion of it :)

That's awesome! I have been searching for the "4 time SC winner" to complete my set; it's nice to know that they're out there!

Incredible stuff, man. Just wow. I thought I saw that first custom script in the Beckett a while back. Hopefully there aren't any Bourque customs, or the gloves come off ;) :D

Sweet sig, too!

Wow. What a great set of cards. Congrats on the newest acquisitions. :)

Jason - Overpaid holdout. Thanks for a much-needed laugh. :p

Jordan and Jay>> No comment……I want to stay on Phil’s good side. ;)

Shawn>> Thanks, I’m going to need it.

Sal>> It’s actually the only one I’ve seen so far. It’s odd that apparently the most of the SC variations seen have been Beliveau and Bowman. Maybe there’s some truth to the “limited to the number of cups” theory? Who knows.

Mike>> Thanks, it’s not going to be easy and probably not likely. Although I’ve been having some good luck so far…

Wes>> Thanks. There’s been a few in beckett I think. I believe the Clarke was in there most recently. I really hope a Bourque doesn’t surface, lol! Me and you wouldn’t be the only ones looking to pick that one up.

Eileen>> Thanks, I have to agree. I knew it would be a near impossible task but I just fell in love with this set.

Shaun

Wow that is quite impressive, you have to love how the old timers signatures are so clean and readable. Nice Autos

Hey Shaun.....I didn't know that was you. My ex Gordie's look real nice in the set.

Glad to see they went to a good home......

Thanks again,
Shaun

He's just not too bright. Should've put "Overpaid Holdout"

That is just too funny, IMO as well. Seeing as I'm in Edmonton as well, and watched the circus unfold...

Thanks for ths peek of this awesome looking partial set! Hopefully you'll be able to track down those last couple of Pesky items! :D

Brian

No.....not at all. If I'd have known you were from the board......I'd have probably given them up alot sooner!

Awesome looking set.

ok,
this is an uphill battle, but really the holdout had very little to do with money.

Aside from Kevin Lowe wanting comrie to pay back his bonuses that he EARNED.

and he's hardly overpaid.
in 04-05 he was slated to make 1.7 million.
and on the scale of today's NHLers, that's not even close to overpaid for a 20-30 goal scorer in today's NHL.
