Good evening all.

Long time listener....first time (in a long time) caller. Hope everyone is well.

My PC chase has been constant through all the ups and downs that the past few years have thrown me. Not quite as aggressive....but still finding fun in the hobby - daily.

I came across a card that has me stumped....so I'm seeing if anyone here has any info (please and thank you).

This Linden card comes from the 2000/01 Be A Player Signature Series. To my knowledge all these years, there has been the base, ruby /200, sapphire /100 and emerald /10. But this card is clearly the platinum parallel.

Here is the card next to the base. Definitely not a "printing error" or anything weird like that. This is its own unique card. No numbering on the back or anything and looks to have all the copyright info and mice type that the other cards have in my collection.

Here's a photo of all 5 cards just to really get a sense of the difference.

Like I said....I'm stumped as to where this platinum version has lived all these years (this is the first copy of the card I've ever seen....over two decades of nothing only to find this new addition).

And just because I was pulling out all the cards in my rainbow, here are all the show cards I've landed from this release. You can see a couple platinum cards in there (so I knew of the existence of platinum cards...but only for the show card releases).

Any knowledge on the existence of this platinum base parallel would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy this new addition to the collection.

Thanks and have a fantastic day.

I can’t say definitively, but if there were platinum show variations, most likely it’s unstamped show stock and may have came out as Dr. Price was cleaning up stock. Just an idea.

Yeah I've never even seen a platinum variation of that set before, show stamped or otherwise. Cool find though. I'm going to go with Cory on this one for the answer.

Echo Luongo Collector: VERY this.

Cool looking card Brett. There are several platinum cards listed on eBay, but I didn’t see any additional information in the descriptions. I looked in my Charlton catalogue, but couldn’t see anything obvious. I’m wondering if these cards were part of the “Team Sets”, as the eBay listings all seemed to fit into the card numbers under that title in Charlton.

I have a couple BRONZE parallels from that set that are probably in the same predicament as the Platinum parallels. They're aren't serial numbered, weren't from any known parallel set in the packs, and most likely were meant for show redemptions.

Great find, congrats on this card. Very pretty!

I think it could have been left over from the printing of show cards and it wasn't stamped. But the story behind how/why these were released unstamped is a fun mystery for any collector. How many of these cards are out there? A fun question indeed.

As Luongo Collector and Steve said, definitely this.

Holy smoke! Congratz! I never heard of platinum version exists. Like you I am a die hard Linden collector. The card look very nice. Must pay more attention that version. Thank you for this info

Unreleased retail variant? Dumping product from ITG, it may have been “throwaway” test production set? Just my guess. Dr Price is the only one that can say what it is.:thumbsup:

Wicked add to the collection, though.
