Collectors, who do you feel is over/under valued in the hobby for 2013/14? Based on the diverse geography of members it is interesting to see what other collectors think or see when attending local card shops, flea markets, card shows etc. It can also possibly help collectors who are looking to move certain players get great value for their cardboard. I hope most, if not all will contribute.

Under-rated: Drew Doughty
Over-rated: OV

I can only really speak towards the Caps, as they are the team I place most of my focus.

Underrated: Mikhail Grabovski. Man was a wizard with and without the puck.
Overrated: Tom Wilson. Sure, he was a rookie with tons of potential, but he really hasn't done anything yet to warrant the prices being realized for his cards on the secondary market.

Overrated : Pretty much any rookie on a hot streak!

Underrated : First name that comes to mind for me is Jonathan Huberdeau. The kid won a Calder, and his cards sell for peanuts. Probably the fact that his rookie season was last year didn't help his value. Plus, Florida...
I'd also add Joe Pavelski to the list. He scored 41 times this year, and yet his card value is semi-star level.

Yeah. I sold two Luxury Suite sticks for $0.99 at auction each on ebay. That was stupid, considering others were going for over $10 each.

Aside from his commons, this is what I was referring too.

A few of his luxury box sticks , $20 , $18, $30, $15, $13, $15, $18

HG sold for $41

Contenders patch auto /25 $34

Contenders patch auto 1/1 $140

Prizm refractor $16, $16. $16.50

Prizm gold $51 and $60 (Ovechkin went for $35 as a comparison)

A huge spike compared to his Toronto days. Don't mean to single you out, it's just a trend that I noticed, as I obviously collect him.

I think he was saying he sold Luxury box sticks for .99

Yeah I know, was just reinforcing his point, which was reinforcing my point lol. My wording wasn't the strongest.

Felt the need to share some of the numbers I have compiled. Enough about Grabo though.

I think Jack Campbell (Dallas rookie goalie) is a very promising prospect, all his rookie year stuff, which is this hobby year, can be had for very reasonable prices

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Yakupov is under rated.

He was drafted first overall and Galchenyuk was drafted third. Those two players have pretty much identical points per game production over Thier first two seasons. Galchenyuk is up by 0.02 PPG which equals one point more for every fifty games played.

Now Galchenyuk gets a lot of hobby love while Yakupov gets significantly less. Yes with Galchenyuk playin in Montreal it helps. This is coming from a Habs fan, Yakupov has the higher ceiling of the two. I could see Yakupov breaking out and getting 55-60 points next year.

Actually, most pundits consider Galchenyuk to have a much higher ceiling. The only reason Yakupov was drafted higher than Galchenyuk was the fact that Alex was injured for all but a couple of games in his draft year, and that scared some scouts off. Otherwise he almost certainly would have gone first overall. But I agree with you that Nail does not get much hobby love compared to what he historically should be.

Or, that Katz used his 'owner power' and insisted the Oilers draft Yakupov. That seems to be the story that went around in Edmonton from people who are/were far more 'in-the-know' than the average fan.
