2016 will be remembered in hobby as the year of the McDavid-Eichel-Larkin rookies but also the year Upper Deck's quality took a poop.

Here are the ones I can think of, probably because I opened cases of Upper Deck to build the Young Guns sets and haven't ripped much else since the products are just worthless.

I know there must be more of these....

Upper Deck Series 1 and 2:

-Young Guns and POE canvas with names misspelled
-Young Guns with "Young Gun" printed over the player's name
-Justin Williams base #440 (red back) all other Caps are blue back
-Series 2 High Gloss cards with no "High Gloss" text
-UD Rookie Portraits with off set borders worse than old Pro Set cards
(I threw a bunch away that had 80/20 off centered borders)

SPx:
-Full of junk
-Full of other brands inserts
-Boxes missing autographs
-Full of redemptions
-Cards missing text on front

People are saying that the throw back cards are missing or have damaged pieces of the middle of the R, in SPx

Why they would remake a card that had problems the exact same way is beyond me.

Hi,
Do we really need another thread recapping all of the issues that have been brought up in a wide variety of threads on these boards recently?
It's a sad day when a survey about what type of magnetic one-touch holder you prefer is one of the 5 most positive threads in the past 20.
Seriously, search down the first page of the Hobby Talk section, look at the thread titles, and if you've kept up with the thread, ask yourself if it was a positively tonal thread or a thread of largely negative comments.
I'm aware of the irony or whatever of the tone of this post.
I try to roam these boards for fun and interesting info. The overall tone has changed a lot in the past couple of years.
It's easy to find flaws and to dwell on them.
Let's find some positive stuff to talk about.

On the contrary. I actually like threads like this because of my lifelong fascination with error cards and screwups.

There are a couple others from S1 and S2 that I seem to remember. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

-Sam Reinhart? is on Sam Bennett's POE Canvas
-The wrong Josh Anderson is on Josh Anderson's POE Canvas.

It's subjective I guess but I'm still not thrilled with UD making Black Diamond a high end box full of manufactured patches the way it was.

Well maybe if UD would make a better product I would be ripping more wax right now rather than ripping their lackluster effort to be the sole provider of a product.

Its absolutely pathetic that I bust a case of Upper Deck anything and have to throw away a stack of cards because there is no way in hell I'm gonna trade/sell that to another collector and who would want cards like that? Ray Charles could cut a better card....

The checklist base card from Series 2 has Henrik Zetterberg spelled as Henrik Zetterberge.

Not an error this year, but if I see one more Sabres slug patch on a modern day Sabres RC that never wore the jersey I'm going to lose my mind. See: Reinhart, Grigorenko.

The Sabre cards are photoshoot, UD has been doing this for years.

I know why it happens, it's just annoying to me. It's a photoshoot jersey, not a gamer. You couldn't fork up the coin to get the actual style of jersey the player wore? Just pure laziness in my opinion

cmon bro threads like this ARE part of the hobby. If you break a box and get a great hit you post it. If somethings F'ed up then why not post it as well?

The problem is, there is no balance. I agree with the poster, this site has gone seriously downhill in the last few years. Despite the fact that there are still many great things about this hobby and many of its members, the amount of negative being posted far outweighs the positive. And the positive that IS posted is largely ignored. How many people that did regular show and tell threads have stopped posting, or post only intermittently now? Even threads acknowledging a good deed done by a member of the hobby seems to be by and large ignored. But a thread pointing out yet another mistake by a card company, no matter how minor, is filled with responses of righteous indignation by the masses who managed to put down the pitchforks long enough to type out a diatribe.

It's become so commonplace that I am actually spending more time surfing SCF than I am HI, for the first time ever.

Hi,
Sure, posts like this have always been part of the hobby, and will always be part of it, though the volume of them seems to have increased over the years, which may simply be a reflection of collectors and producers not being on the same page, or of what people are looking to get out of their hobby, or who knows what else.
Hobby Boards (Hobby Insider specifically, as I'm not on SCF or CnC or anywhere else because I've been so appreciative of my experience here) have been a part of my hobby experience for a while now, which is part of a fun, happy escape from much of the negativity that exists in my/our reality. If I wanted a dose of hobby reality, I would always go browse the Trader Report, Confrontation Forum, or read about that with which people have Beef.
Somewhere along the way, the tone of the Hockey Talk has turned into more of a Hockey Squawk. Maybe people don't realize we have a forum for the stuff that pisses us off, where we can complain about the things with which we have Beef. Maybe it's me who needs to adjust my expectations, and just focus more attention on other forums or reading blogs, staying clear of the comment sections, of course. Redirect my 15-30 hobby minutes/day.
Anyways, I think I've made my point.
Hobby on.

Rangers6 thanks for making this thred , i fully agree with You . Forgive my poor english but I want to also wrote some of my opinions thanks .
First of all if I give just an example , where are the current players , NHL MVP players for their teams , example - Alex Steen from Blues , there is no Auto cards , memorabilia cards in any UD product and You can pick from any other NHL team couple of players I hope You understand what I mean ?
In EVERY UD products are milions of RCs cards , If You look back to the history You can see unbelievable amount of no name rookie cards . This really huts me so so much , but thats not the main problem . This is about 15 - 16 season and what these ameteurs from UD trying on us .
First of all - they are using some kind of drogs when they are creating cards designs today? Dont like inserts which they make today , design and quallity control as many people already mentioned are not good as used to be and should be ! I also dont like e-packs , e-cards idea , if they create hole new series only as a virtual or e - pack product - I am ok whit that , but not when it has such a influence on current already released product - S1 , thats a scam .
I go on , they keep going with taking away cards in each box and raisng prices for them , but many of them has no value . BD are disgustingly overpriced , Full Force has some very weird inserts , Trilogy - most of the boxes have no value also bad quallity control when people missing hits in their boxes etc . , SPX - so far the worst of all when You compaere the quallity / value , design to price .
Are they truly give everything on McDavid and thats all ? It seems to me there is no feedback form UD , they dont care what collectors are thinking , people keep giving them money for every crap they bring on the market and nothing is changed it could be only worst when You keep busting boces like SPX , e-packs etc. Ples stop giving them your money when they make idiots from You .

TanguayFan , achittka - You people in the northamerica are different from us from Europe thats a fact , You have no problem with byuing crazy products as I was seeing again and again , overpriced products with no value etc. You are creazy about rookie each year I am ok with that as I said You are different , but there is some serious problems when You paid half of your paycheck - if I wrote it right - money which You get for month of work in your job here in the Czech Republic for BD box and You get manufactured no name rc patch with wrong logo - form other club on it , missing some hit on your Trilogy box , UD S1 box and so on , what you can say to these people ? For You as I see is no problem put 100 dollars for box and get nothing You go on and try it again , but not every people are rich as your are , not every people has such an income You know , busting boxes once for 3 - 5 years and get kick in the *** from UD , thats not ok .
Interesting inserts keep disappearing , great series keep disappearing , good loking cards keep disappearing , prices are rising , so there is no problem ? You like also the e-packs right ? I dont get it , really dont , but wait you can bet every year comes brand new sexy rookie player and madness continue , whos next ? A.Matthews ? WOW .

#1. I don't buy packs or boxes. EVER. I would rather set my money on fire, which is about what buying boxes is the equivalent to.
#2. I couldn't give a rats sphincter about Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, Sidney Crosby, Carey Price, Alex Ovechkin or any other hot and popular superstar or flavor of the week. The players I collect, I do so because I genuinely like them as a player or a person, which is why my collection consists of guys like Alex Tanguay, Matthias Tedenby, Mikkel Boedker and Alex Barkov.

ITG final Vault will be popular!! And will we see more Panini box break on the site even if they are 2-3 years old? Maybe

TanguayFan me the same , I used to collect players like Yashin , Reichel , St.Louis etc. never collect any of NHL superstar players , but if I buy a box I of course want to hit some of them or legendary players like Lemieux , Gretzky and so on , my point was UD gives people the chance to hit McDavid and they acting like they dont see the problems which are obvious and keep buying and buying boxes with this hope for McDavid , so there is no bad feedback to Upper Deck , people buying boxes so everything is allright , but thats not true obviously .
Dont get me wrong I also like McDavid hes a great player , so smart and skilled , id like to bust some box of 15 - 16 UD but not for this price . When UD make me look dump when its all done .
I stick with older boxes , 14 - 15 UD products are better .
