Hi HI members,

As we sit in the eve of the 2017-18 season, I thought a bold prediction thread is needed.

Can be team or player oriented.

I'll start. As long as Duchene is still on the Avs, Yakupov will average at least .5 points per game AND the Avs will make the playoffs.

(These predictions will both be invalid around the time the fall expo rolls around)

Shawn

Scheifele leads the league in scoring.

Laine leads the league in goals.

Henrik Lundqvist will FINALLY hoist a long-overdue Stanley Cup!

P.K. Subban will tell Sidney Crosby to go make a sammich.

The Avalanche will again fall the maximum number of spots they can in the draft.

Oilers beat the Jackets for the Stanley Cup.

No team from the NYC area (Rangers, Islanders, Devils) make the playoffs

At least one team, and probably two, miss the playoffs but have more points than a playoff team from their own conference (i.e. Rangers have more points than 3rd place in the Atlantic)

Sharks miss the playoffs, as do the Kings. Chicago squeaks in.

Jordan Eberle scores 35 goals for the Islanders, and Ryan Strome doesn't hit 20. Queue Oilers fans wanting to run Strome out of town.

Interesting most everyone has "homer" predictions about their teams and players.

I like when people go out on a limb and talk about players and teams they are not closely following or informed about. That seems BOLD.

I'm gonna toss another out there and it has a "homer" angle tied in. Pending the media "homer" east-coast bias isn't applicable as always, I'll go with OEL of the desert dogs for Norris.

Oh yeah, Go Kings. :rolleyes::laugh:

OEL for the Norris? I like the pick (I think he has - very quietly - become one of the top 5 dmen in the league).

I can keep going though.... all the talk about the resurgence of "Canadian teams" ends in big disappointment. Instead of "5 or 6" making the playoffs, it's only 3.

At least one of Connor Sheary & Jake Guenztel finsihed with less than 15 goals. Neither crack 20.

The Flyers will consider themselves contenders, but their goaltending ends up being terrible. They swap Elliott with a picks & prospects package to the Senators for Craig Anderson.... and then Anderson's game goes in the toilet.

Here is my homer, oilers win the west, flames take 8th, oilers and pens I the final and the leafs win their division, mtl misses der playoffs

Canucks do better than expected effectively pissing off half of their fan base for not tanking. Okay, thats probably not a very bold prediction.

Blackhawks beat the Leafs for the Cup.
