i was hearing stats being tossed out like the only time the caps beat the pens they lost game 1....I dont see them losing both at home...Holtby will need to be much better next game....Pens need to limit stupid penalties

The Pens put on a clinic tonight, and Holtby's confidence must have taken a big hit getting pulled to start the third. I know it's a huge stretch to rule out a President's Trophy team this soon but with the series going to Pittsburgh we could possibly be looking at a sweep here.

Niskanen is getting all the attention but let's not forget Ovie wrapped his stick around Sid with a two-handed baseball swing to the arm before he started falling. And Crosby's leg twisted awkwardly on the way down too. A whole lot of awful happened on that play, I hope he's okay and back soon.

yea this sucks. Since I do admit i have some bias I wont comment too much on the hit. I'd prefer to think Matt Nisiken didnt intend to injure. Hope it's not a concussion. To me it is more important not only for his career but for his overall health

Glad they showed some life at the end of regulation. Its still far from over. Very suprised fans left.....I could see after a empty net goal....

Ovechkin should have been ejected immediately. Chickensxxx move by Alex, from the slewfoot to the 2 baseball swing slashes.......I guess if you cant beat him, injure him. Friggin terrible

he slew footed Justin Schultz late in the third also

Pittsburgh steps up tonight without their Captain to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Washington will never win a Cup with OV IMHO.

If you're the Caps, and you lose this series with the team blowing up in the summer, what do you do with Ovie? Try to trade him while the value is there? Rebuild around Backstrom? Keep him and waste what remains of his prime years trying to rebuild? Does he do something drastic himself and go back to Russia?

As talented as the Caps team has been in recent years it's obvious something isn't working. This could be a very interesting off-season for WSH if the Caps exit in the second round yet again.

1. I think the Caps need a slightly better D to contend. No disrespect to Shattenkirk but he's a great offense guy, but not the best defensively. I haven't watched the entire Caps run so far, but whenever I have watched Orlov has looked completely awful. I think one of their big issues was Kuznetsov needed to step up, which I think he has played a lot better this playoffs. They have gotten almost no scoring from their bottom 6. They have 3 Goals from bottom 6 forwards, all of them from Tom Wilson. They have 4 goals from D-men, and the rest of the offense comes from Ovechkin-Backstrom-Oshie and Williams-Kuznetsov-Johansson. No doubt the big name players need to step up, but your bottom 6 needs to provide you with something.

And Holtby is just flat out being outplayed by Fleury, and that's the main difference in this series I think.

0.936 SV% vs a 0.867 SV% Fleury vs Holtby in this series I believe

2. The NHL needs to take a look at their NHL format. There's no reason that the 2 top teams in the NHL should be meeting in the 2nd round year after year. It's just doesn't seem right to me.

1. I think Orlov has been their most visible D, in a good way. Game 4 was by far his worst game of the postseason.

2. I think they need to get rid of the divisions and just have 2 conferences, seed 1-8 for the playoffs. 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6. (Winner 1v8 plays winner 4v5)

I would support this.
