2018 NHL Draft

Sens picked up who I wanted. Being in Calgary, I love what Matt Tkachuk brings to the game for the Flames. I am hoping for at least the same from Brady. First piece of good news in 9 months in Sens-land. It's been rough... hoping there's not more bad news to come (ie; Capn' Karlsson).

I really hope Buffalo can do a rebuild one final time and actually build a long term contender.

It would be nice for my mother-in-law to see a championship in her lifetime out there after following the Sabres and Gil Perreault since Day 1.

To say i am really happy with our draft would be an understatement. Holland and Co. did well this year. We could have used one more D pick but whaves, our two first rounders make up for it.:wings::wings::wings:

I feel the same way, but for my dad

I think he actually got a bit of a steal in Olofsson.

He did, but doesn't make up for picking a crap shoot at number 3, given the fact that they have proven time and time again that they cannot properly develop talent in the system. Jesperi Kotkaniemi may be classified as the top centre available in the draft, but they seem to be basing that simply on his fine showing in the U18's. He has no experience as a centre playing against men, and I have no faith that they can develop him into one, based on how badly they mishandled Galchenyuk.

What is less known in other markets about Galchenyuk is that he loves to party, and that his dad is acting like a coach, texting him during the games and telling him how to play.

I hope that Kotkaniemi turns well. We had a great Finnish center in Montreal, good on the ice, in the room and with the fans, Saku Koivu. He was a late 1rd round pick. If Kotkaniemi turns as good as him, he'll be the steal of that draft!

That may be, but it is funny how we hear all these stories about players being traded due to off ice issues, then it is suddenly no longer an issue in the new city/team?

Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, PK Subban......how did that work out for those teams that traded those players due to reported off ice issues?

That being said, I don't want the kid to fail. But I don't have ANY faith in Montreal's development system whatsoever. They have had only two draft picks in the last ten years (out of 64 total before this year) that have had any sort of impact or even had more than a cup of coffee with the Habs....those were Galchenyuk in 2012 and Gallagher in 2010. Now obviously the jury is still out on a couple players like Primeau, Fleury, Poehlsen, etc since they were only just drafted, but the abysmal success rate speaks for itself.

For Subban, what I heard the most about him where issues with the coach and some veterans in the room.

On some nights, him and Markov were horrible in their defense play, but on some others they were magic to set-up the attack.

One major difference between Galchenyuk and Subban is the will to win of Subban. He works hard and doesn't fear playing hard against the bests.

My favorite player on the Habs line-up is Gallagher. He's going to war every night. Him, Byron, Danault and Deslauriers are nice teamworkers going hard game after game.
I wish Weber will be healthy next year. He's not mobile that much, but his physical presence and shot will be fun to watch.
