Verified Trader,
Hey everyone, hope the holidays have been treating you well.
In past years, I did a few S&T’s throughout the year, but somehow this year has been much busier and here I am, just getting this in under the wire. I’ll call this a Top 15, but I’m cheating and including multiple cards for most entries. You may also see a theme with players that have recently departed the Flames…suddenly a lot came available this past July.
#15 2012-13 & 2014-15 O-Pee-Chee Team Logos
There are 11 of these now for the Flames, these are my 4th & 5th in the set – like to pick them up when the price is right.

#14 The Cup 2005-06 Mark Giordano & 2007-08 David Moss SPA Future Watch Rookie Printing Plates –
Not typically a plate collector, but a few years back I was able to acquire a David Moss PC that included 22 of the 36 total 1/1 rookie plates, and I finally broke down and picked up the 23rd that had been sitting at COMC for some time.

#13 ICE: 2007-08 Curtis McElhinney Premiers Patch /10 & 2016-17 Matthew Tkachuk Premiers die-cut
The patches are nothing special, but there’s only 10 made so can’t be too picky. Not sure how I feel about the die-cut design on the Tkachuk, but happy to add it to the PC.

#12 SP Authentic parallels
Acquired a large lot of Flames SPA RC’s back in May, here are a few lower-end FWAP’s, along with a couple veteran patch/autos and a Jon Gillies Black FWA.

#11 Artifacts memorabilia cards
Some lower #’d Artifacts patches acquired this year, including a recent deal for all 4 of the 2020-21 Artifacts Orange Flames dual fight-strap cards.

#10 Prime Colors
At the end of December 2021 I added a bunch of Flames Prime Colors (mostly from HI’s own JLee), and have since added a few more. Two of these were in another deal with JLee at the Edmonton Expo.

#9 Young Guns Parallels: Acetates, Exclusives, Clear Cut
So many parallels now! Also added my 4th 30th Anniversary 1/1.

#8 Time for The Cup!
Made a push to add more Cup base parallels this year; these are from 2006-07 up to 2010-11. And a bonus Kiprusoff Triple Jersey from 2012-13.

#7 More Cup! Rookie auto & auto/patch parallels
Had a Klimchuk but upgraded to this crazy flag patch. Also nice to add the Gold RPA’s /10 when they come along.

#6 Yet More Cup! Veteran autos & auto/patches
Was most pumped to add the Giordano, as I love the 2014-15 design in a gold foil, plus a nice auto and only #’d to 8. I think the other three Tkachuk’s might have all been COMC auctions?

#5 Lanny McDonald
A collector on FB was slimming down their collection back in March, so added the 500 Goal Club stick piece, and one of Lanny’s beautiful autos #’d to 10.

#4 2014-15 Johnny Gaudreau The Cup RPA /99
Except for a card coming up below, the priciest Flames card in my collection. Would rank higher if he hadn’t left for Columbus but still happy to add this to the Cup PC. Won via ebay but picked up in person from a local seller.

#3 Theo Fleury The Cup Brilliance Autos
Fleury was my favourite player back in the day and my original player PC. I really like the 2012-13 card: particularly that the pic is from his brief 2009 comeback attempt, wearing a modern Flames jersey – oh, what could have been if he’d stuck around. Also, by far the thickest card I own!

#2 Prime Colors Genuine Letters of Mikka Kiprusoff
I saw these and passed on them during deal with JLee last December and regretted it quite quickly. Happily there were still available from his table at the Edmonton Expo.

#1 Matthew Tkachuk Rookies
Aside from the Gaudreau Cup RPA, these Future Watches are the biggest cards in my Flames PC now. The SPA cards came from the SPA lot purchased back in May. Haven’t seen too many of these Black Future Watches so hard to get a handle on the value, hopefully I did OK! The YG Exclusives was a recent ebay pick-up.

Non-Flames PC – Graded Young Guns
Made a lot of headway on this project in 2022. A few comments:
- After 18 months I finally received my October 2021 Beckett grading submission back. My Lundqvist & Pastrnak YG’s both came back at BGS 10, and were only POP 23 & 6, respectively. I was able to trade those for BGS 9.5’s of the same cards plus the MacKinnon BGS 9.5 TG (my copy of the Mac had only graded a BGS 9).
- The MNT graded cards were submitted at the Edmonton Expo, pretty happy with the results.
- All the Canvas Young Guns Maple Leafs’ were also picked up at the Edmonton Expo, meeting up to complete a FB deal.

As my New Year's resolution, I resolve to set up the new V600 Scanner I received for Christmas and start scanning & organizing my PC Online - better pictures next year!
Thanks for reading, Happy New Year and happy collecting in 2023!
