Registered Trader,
I recently finished opening up my case of 2023-24 O-Pee-Chee. I was out of town for much of early 2024 but yes, I am also a slow burner.
Here is a quick summary of the pulls:

Pros: O-Pee-Chee is pretty formulaic at this point, but I feel that it really works for those who like base sets with some parallels and inserts. Base set collation was excellent. I completed two full sets and am only 12 high-number cards short of a third, which is exactly what you'd hope for with 288 high numbered cards per case. Unlike last year, none of my Premier inserts were duplicates and I was able to complete the lower level playing cards.
Cons: I don't feel like I pulled as many of the rare cards as I did last year. I didn't pull any Rainbow Blacks (3 last year), Rainbow Greens (2) or printing plates (1) and I pulled fewer Premier Rainbows (2 vs. 3) and numbered parallels (9 Purple this year vs. 14 Pink last year). Perhaps this is due to more product being printed, but I also pulled 3 more Retro Blacks than last year.
The third box of the case had the exact same base cards as the second box, save for one, and if I had bothered to keep track, I'm betting it wasn't the only time that happened between boxes. While it all works out in the end if you have a case, it does highlight the challenge of putting together a base set from boxes.
Quirks: One of my Retros was a duplicate, and they were both pulled in the same box! The O-Pee-Chee checklist thread detailed the inconsistency with player teams and photos. One thing I did notice was that there seemed to be more of an effort last year to display the team the player was currently with. For example, Erik Haula's 2022-23 O-Pee-Chee card pictures him on Boston but has the Devils team name and logo on his card. But Haula's 2023-24 O-Pee-Chee card pictures him on Boston, and also lists the Boston team name and logo on the card, giving no indication he's on New Jersey.
The back of Ryan Lomberg's card has a Flames logo despite him not being on the team since 2018-19. The high-numbered All-Star Retros do not say "All Star" on the front, which is nitpicking, but makes it slightly tougher to identify some blank banks.
Thanks for the read! Apologies ahead of time but I'm not looking to move any of my pulls.
Here are some of the hits.
