I was watching some breaks on youtube of 2023/24 SPGU and then saw a post on Facebook last night regarding Connor Bedard autographed patches coming out of SPGU with no autograph.

On the video on youtube and sorry I don't remember the breaker, (maybe GP Sports) they pulled a Connor Bedard autographed patch card number to 25 but there was no autograph. The back of the card had the language UD uses for autographs. The breaker said they would contact UD about the missing auto.

Then last night on a Facebook group there was a discussion going on that the Bedard patch cards numbered to 25 were not to be autographed that they were just to be patch cards that the only autographed Bedard patch cards were to be numbered to 10. That the printer printed the wrong back on the patch card saying it was to be autographed. Patch cards numbered to 25 were not ever to be autographed.

My thoughts if I pulled a Bedard patch card that was numbered to 25 and it said autograph I would expect Upper Deck to put a sticker auto on it for me.

What a mess and I felt bad for the collector that entered the break and got the patch with no autograph.

This subject has already been discussed in another thread. The checklist shows that the /25 card is a patch with no auto. The printing company obviously screwed up and UD inserted the cards in the product anyway rather than pulling the entire /25 patch set. There's no way you can expect to get a Bedard auto out of this.

This has happened before, can't remember who the player was but the back said it was an auto card the same as this card. It was not a big name player so no one really seemed to care, but now that it is Bedard it is big news.

UD will go by what is on the checklist as errors happen.

Is there verbiage somewhere that officially states the checklist portion of the argument? Because, if it says Cheerios on the box I won’t be happy with the potato chips inside, you know? You’d be absolutely crazy or have drank alllll the Kool-Aid to not at a MINIMUM CONTACT customer service. Not saying you’d get anywhere, but I wouldn’t believe a couple of “ there’s no way”s on the ‘net.

probably nothing stated but I also think it comes down to what a reasonable person would expect in this situation. And I get where you are coming from with your analogy but they bought a box of hockey cards and they received hockey cards.

By all means they can contact CS and ask as you never know.

Someone mentioned they pulled a Shane Wright FWA without the Auto

I did that, pulled a Future Watch Shane Wright with no auto and they told me it was an error, that non-autographed Wright cards should not have been inserted in their packs. As there were autographed Wright cards so he had 999 non autographed cards and 999 signed cards.

The difference was my Wright Future Watch on the back of the card did not have the verbiage that it was the autographed version of the Future Watch.

There were a number of cards in 2020-21 SP Retail that were supposed to have autos but didn't. Same issue with it saying on the back it's an autograph but they didn't put a sticker on it. I pulled the short straw and have a Kaprizov out of 25 missing the auto

If it's supposed to have an auto and does not, then by all means that person deserves an auto. But if the set it's from is non-autoed, then I don't think there's a reasonable expectation to receive an auto. Mistakes happen.

People are making some weird false equivalent examples. If you buy a burger at McDonald's, and you pay the regular burger price, but the receipt says combo on it, you're not entitled to the combo. It's just a mistake, don't be weird about it.

At McDonals you are ordering a burger or a combo, in cards you get a pack that has random cards. Your card you pulled says it’s autographed but it’s not! Big difference from ordering a non autographed card in the first place.

Except for the fact that there's a checklist in place that shows that all patches /25 are non-auto'd?

If you pull a card /10 that's supposed to be auto'd and isn't, you have a complaint. If you pull a card /25 that's not supposed to be auto'd and isn't, you don't have a complaint.

WRONG

You still have a complaint. Is the checklist inserted in each pack? Not many of us memorize the checklist, good on those of you who do! If I pull a card and it says it's autographed and it's not that should be on UD, not on me! If you can't sell a product and deliver what it says you shouldn't be selling that product! Should ud have pulled the cards if they knew ahead of time, yes! They put redemptions in for everything, they could have put a redemption in for these instead of not delivering what the cards say. The other option is that they should of put out a press release informing customers of their mistake so you can be informed at least. I can't think of a good comparable because cards are a unique thing but could you picture them selling scratch tickets that if you get three in a row you win $1000 bucks but on their website it says it's only $100 and sorry your out of luck because you should of checked their website?!!! They'd be destroyed in the press and no one would be arguing for them!

Jesus Christ the entitlement here is unreal. You're buying the product, if you don't know the checklist that's your fault. If you buy UD1 can you complain there's no Bedard YG because you don't know the checklist by heart? Give me a break.

If you win $100,000, but your big novelty cheque accidentally has an extra 0 and shows $1,000,000, are you entitled to the million? No, of course not.

Common sense really ain't common anymore.

Holier than thought isn’t appealing either. A discussion forum is to discuss. We know you think you’re right but being condescending to anyone of a different view isn’t really helping. We get your view, we disagree. Show a little class

WRONG

Better?

While I can understand both sides of the argument, let's not forget that the name of the product itself is contrary to what the product actually delivers in a lot of cases (manufactured patches is not Game Used ... I'm not even going to get in to the whole Mascot memorabilia thing). Stay classy HI.
