Let's just *assume* that Connor 2.0 won't be included, along with the rest of the 2023 Draft Picks (if you don't know why, please check out the most recent thread about this product). So who is eligible to have a card in Series 1?

The sell sheet shows Askarov from Nashville, so that's one notable...

Other random names:

Aatu Raty, Vancouver

Walker Duehr, Calgary

Matthew Coronato, Calgary (assuming the Jolly Rancher lets the kid dress for one game before the season ends)

Vincent Desharnais, Edmonton

Who else? Any other notable college free agent signings?

Sean Farrell put up 53 points in 34 games for Harvard this season. Just signed an entry-level contract with the Habs yesterday. He should get into a few games soon, making him eligible for a S1 Young Guns.

San Jose just signed Henry Thrun and is expected to play this year.

I am still not convinced that Connor Badard will not be in series 1.So I will go with him.I noticed on one of the other sites when PJ@UD was ask about if Badard was going to be in series 1 he never said no.
He just said that series one would have a lot of left over/holdouts from this year like it has been for the last few years. With the #1 draft pick having been a staple of series 1 for years. Why would UD
change what has been something people have become accustom too.Just my thoughts and also someone that has not opened any UD cases in 10 plus years.

You guys realize that Upper Deck doesn’t have an agreement with anyone to have Bedard appear in an NHL licensed set yet, right? It would be dumb of them to state anything in regards to his appearance in an NHL set in the possible event that Bedard doesn’t become eligible to appear for some untoward reason.

Let him get drafted and signed before reading too much into UD saying or not saying anything.

From Detroit, Simon Edvinsson has played and Marco Kasper has joined the team and will likely play some before the end of the season.

From what I have seen on the interwebs, UD product manager has said that Bedard is slated for Series 2. I didn't listen to the interview/podcast myself, but heard that with the anticipated delays, they didn't want to rush photos, etc. to make the Series 1 deadlines.

I'm with you, though, it's hard for me to believe that they would break tradition and not put the #1 draft pick in Series 1 Young Guns... That said... They've created so many 'new' things, a Series 2 YG with an Extended Canvas YG and maybe a Series 1 'Bounty' or some other 'redemption'-type thing (like they used to do with OPC), could be a possibility, too. And still maintain the hype to sell, sell, sell

Without Bedard in Series 1, I don't see a big enough draw right now from the carry over players to make it as popular as years past. At least last year they had Boldy, Beniers, and Owen Power having decent starts so they could delay Slafkovsky and Wright Series 2 and not make Series 1 a dud.

You've got a nice little list of players making their debuts in the last few games that will help with S1.

Matthew Knies
Luke Hughes
Matthew Coronato
Dustin Wolf (Possible)
Brock Faber
Devon Levi

You've got Owen Beck and Luke Evangelista who've played. There are some others who debuted earlier in the year that I wonder if they hold over rather than put in extended like Ridly Greig. I'm sure I'm missing a few decent prospects as well.

The Knies will be a big one because of the market and Hughes should be a stud.
