Just saw the headline on ESPN. From what, I think was floating in the CBJ organization, he was probably going to start to be evaluated as a potential starter in Merzlikins and Korpisalo since they both had a bad year in net. Since Bob left, they need to find a solid goaltender to support them. They had The M & K combo and they looked good in 19-20, but no standout starter. Matiss was one of the best prospects, maybe a year away or so from being the impact player most had anticipated. I think that CBJ is leaving the M & K combo open in the exp draft, expecting to lose one. Matiss would have fit right into the rotation.

Definitely too soon.
