I haven't really update my sig recently, but the numbers aren't up to date.
But this past weekend I hit not only one milestone, but two. That is, of course, getting 1000 cards for someone you collect. Of course, you can look at my sig and some of you might be able to know there isn't 1000 cards for that guy. But I'm not picky, I count doubles. xD
So here is a little story. Back before I became a promoter, I saw a band I ended up working with. One of the dudes in it was a big Red Sox fan and he collected cards. He told me about his quest of 1000 Roger Clemens cards and how he was able to get to it. It inspired me!
Since then I've found people that have even larger PCs... at least 2-3000 cards for a player with even less variety that Roger Clemens or Alexei Zhamnov.
I've been at 996 for a little bit now. I hit 999 2 weeks ago. I recently counted my other PCs and had only one other player close. I didn't know because I have the Zhamnov checklist in Excel and anyone else its just whatever. But I had 991 Keith Tkachuk cards. Next closest is Teemu Selanne with 771.
This past Saturday I hit 1k for both players. My first thought was to get one-touches for both cards that marked 1k for each. But then I began to wonder.
What do I do next?
I'm thinking I just continue on as normal but still not sure if this is supposed to be a turning point in my collecting life or not.
What are your experiences with this sort of thing?
