hey guys,
i was wondering how rare these cards are/were.

i might be receiving some as part of a trade and am wondering if they were commons or harder to get parallels?

Thanks,

They were 1:72 packs back in the day...however, because of their high book value and low comparative sale value (and the fact that there seem to be more stars floating around than commons now with people selling bricks of 40 or 50 of the stars on eBay,) I think you might find it's a bit of a hard trader once you get them in.

Thanks Matt,
the one's i would be receiving would be of Neely, so that would go straight into the PC.

Thanks for the info :)

I cannot confirm the story, so the following is pure rumour, but I've heard that there are many more than the 1:72 ratio that were not packed out. Hence, the availability of 'bricks'.

Yep, they were definitely a lot more rare back in 95-96. I only pulled 2 of them back in the day, and I opened A LOT of that stuff.

You can get them by the assload at the WalMart near my house. They are the face card on every pack of those hand packed blister packages of cards. If WalMart is carrying them and each blister has a PCP as the face card, the bottoms will fall out from under those if there is a bottom to have fall out.

thanks guys.

I have a Gretzky and a Lemieux in my traders since more than one year. Nobody ask for them. A lot have pop on eBay in the last months, some going for as low as 10 $. Both books for around 100 $, but I know I could NEVER get that much in return.

On the other hand, I look around for a Thibault (for the Nords collection) for more than a year. I never saw one priced at less than 12 $. I finally came around a mint one last week and get it for 5 $.

Over the last year, I manage to get all the Nordiques cards in Platinum (with three Forsberg et two Sakic, it have not been a walk in the park). So, in my experience, the market value of those cards seems to be very volatile. I know a guy who try to make the set and offer Beckett BV in return. Other than that, I have buy some way under the BV.

Hope it helps.
