Season's almost over...that SHOULD mean the Cup will come out in the near future. Very likely UD has already decided who will be in the top tier /99 list.

Based on this season and demand, who do you think should be in the list if you were deciding for UD today?

For me, other than the obvious RNH, Landeskog, Hodgson, Larsson, maybe Henrique, Kassian, Leblanc, and others, I hope Voynov makes it in. Probably not though.

Maybe Ryan Johansen. He was drafted 4th overall and was a top prospect. But only problem is, he's on a small market team and hasn't been producing as of yet.

I would consider Matt Read and Henrique to current mix of Landeskog, RNH, Hodgson and Larrson.

There's no way i would consider Kassian for a /99 spot despite his potential.

Maybe based on his potential. In my opinion, with one or two more drafts, Columbus may become the next hobby darling city like Edmonton is now.

Read, forgot him.

Maybe if enough people reply, I'll make a HI /99 Cup list!

I'll also throw out Jake Gardiner and Sean Couturier based on potential and the teams they play on. Outside shot, Brett Connolly.

Only if they don't screw up and draft the proper player for once(You've seen all those top 10 picks that they had and drafted a dud?). It'll be hard to screw up a first overall pick if they get/keep it though. Or they will be a fad for a moment and will cool down. Remember when everyone were after the Mason,Brassard,Voracek, and Filatov's rookies?

I never understood that but I actually knew something about those players...
Mason - Hitchcock
Brassard - if you read Gare Joyce's book, you know he's not as good as Staal who at best is a 2nd line center in the NHL
Voracek - so good, he made Dean Lombardi draft Thomas Hickey, lol
Filatov - I can't remember exactly but at a key moment (I think also mentioned in Joyce's book) in the world juniors, he went up against another top player in Canada or US, and he disappeared because the other guy was tough on him...I knew he wasn't a NHL player.

Yakupov and Johanson are better prospects in my mind than off four of the previously mentioned guys put together...heck, just Nail may be better than all four combined lol.

The other names, especially Couterier, should make it...Gardiner, probably not as even Leafs fans aren't paying for him like they did with L Schenn.

Nugent-Hopkins, Landeskog, Hodgson, Couturier, and then it's a tossup.

You have to figure Hodgson and Couturier because these cards were likely built several months ago.

Who were the Ice RCs /99? Pick the top 6 from that group and you should have it. Performance this season wouldn't've factored in too much since these cards were made and sent to be signed months ago.

1. Nuge
2 Landeskog
3. Henrique
4. Hodgson (wish it would be a Sabre Patch ;))
5. Read
6. Shaw (Gotta have a Hawk Patch!)

Notables
Ryan Johansen (BJ's have great patches)
Leblanc (Hab Goggles ;)) and Palushaj!!! lol
Marcus Foligno 13 Pts 13 Games But another Sabre?

Will have to think more after a sleep/work day lol

Unlikely you will ever see a Leaf as a /99 again - unless he has the kind of hype that a Subban had in Montreal... Remember Justin Pogge?

Given that it was likely prepared back in November - if there are 6 RCs/99, it would be RNH, Landeskog, Hodgson, Couturier, Scheifele, Zibanejad - 5 first rounders from the last draft + 1 fairly hyped rookie from a big Canadian market

Or a guy named Tlusty the year before?

I would love it if Kassian and Hodgson were pictured in their new teams, with pieces of game used jerseys from their new teams as well, not counting on it but that would be cool.

Zibby, Johansen, Landeskog, Hodgson and RNH were the Ice /99 in Black Diamond... We should see another batch of /99 Ice Rookies if SPx ever comes out.

That being said, RNH, Landeskog, Hodgson are sure bets.

After that, I'd go with Couturier and Henrique.

I'm scared that Upper Deck will put Leblanc in the mix, but I truly hope they won't do that, and put a player that "deserves" it. Knowing UD, they might as well add Palushaj ;-)

I'm more concerned whether Hodgsons gold rainbow will be /9 or /39.

I would imagine he would /39.

Jared Cowen wore the number 48 for 1 game only and has worn the number 2 since then but his Cup Gold Varient is /48 instead of /2.

I don't think so.

Brandon Yip played over 32 games wearing #59 and then again in the playoffs.

UD decided to go with his regular #18 he wears for his Gold APR.

I won't be surprised they went with /9 or a slight chance /19 (buff).

They want the product to generate as much money as possible so /9 or /19 makes sense. They are trying to get people to continue busting their product and have cards that hold value in the secondary market so low print runs work a lot better.

Tlusty, Schenn, Pogge

Never count out a Leaf /99 ARP being a soul-shattering, tears in the eyes, frown machine case hit.

Imagine cracking a case of 08/09 and getting Pogge as your case hit. Tuesday I watched Pogge play....for Portland. He was the backup goalie... the backup.

That being said I hope they will keep it low like 09/10 with only 3 /99

RNH Couturier (Landeskog, Henrique, or Read)
