The Big M
Verified Trader,
I was so disappointed in last year's BAP I swore never again, even though autos are my favourite form of card.
But this year's is so much better in my opinion, I learned very quickly to "Never Say Never".
So, last week when the product first came out, I opened 3 boxes at Collector's Paradise here in Calgary. results were so-so, a nice Buffalo trio (with Vanek for the PC), a couple of better-than-average pulls, but nothing earth-shattering.
Good product, though, and I knew I'd do more (even though there were a lot of cards damaged at the bottom-center).
Well, the third Wednesday of the month rolls around and it's time for everyone's favourite "Trading Night at Darren's", that is the world-famous Maple Leaf Sports in the north end of town. Good turnout as usual, a good mix of high-end collectors, and those like me who buy low-to-medium and hope for the high-end pull....
The first box was good with the Blues Trio auto, a couple of good rookies, and some nice single autos.
Box 2 scored a Sakic auto, I managed to trade the Koivu for a Niedermayer (Saku for Scott), and a Lundqvist.
Box 3, which came from a new case, was pretty good overall... the highlight being the Unmasked Warrior insert of Ryan Miller #33/99.
But the second last pack was whatmade this old heart go pitter-patter, and now I know what it feels like to pull a 1/1... The auto version of the same Masked Warrior Ryan Miller
... It was as if the card gods were trying to tease me with the insert...
I like those gods
... here are some of the highlights...
BTW, any cards with a photo are not available.
Also pulled (or traded for):
single autos... Toskala, Gill, Tucker, Perreault, Stajan, NiedermayerZherdev, Fedotenko, Umberger, Hunter, Denis, Ballard, Veilleux, Vrbata, Yashin, Jokinen, Ladd, Havlat, Heatley, Savard, Bates, Van Ryn, Bouchard, Muir, Burns, Boyle, Brown x 3, Gerber x 3, Hamhuis x 2, Brewer
dual autos... Raycroft/Tucker, Malhotra/Shelley, Eaves/Vermette, Avery/Simon, Smyth/Yashin
Rookie autos... Bourdon, Dawes
Rookies... Zajac, Smid, Welch, M-A Pouliot, B Pouliot, Yandle, Booth, Belle, Bolland, White
Thanks for the long read and look.
Michael.
