I haven't shared any mail here in a long time so thought I'd post a couple awesome Cuts from a couple Hockey Hall of Famers I recently picked up.
Canada's top athlete of the first half century:
and a legendary Leafs goalie:
These two autographs go towards my main collection, trying to get an autograph of everyone who has played in the NHL. If anyone has any rare 1/1 cut autographs available, and the name is on my wantlist, please contact me with a price.
I know 'white whale' gets thrown around a little too often but it very much applies to this autograph. I've long been down to 2 autographs needed to complete the 90s with one, Igor Vyazmikin, being deceased and very tough to find. The other was the whale, Matt Glennon, who is very much alive and active. I tried many ways to get in touch and got the impression that he just doesn't like to sign or deal with the requests. Finally tracked down this old signed Bruins Alumni card and was able to cross Glennon off my wantlist. Whale speared! So from 1989 to 2014 a grand total of 3,299 people made their NHL debuts and with Glennon down I'm at 3,298/3,299 for the recent players.
After years of searching, I actually have a line on the very last 90s guy I need, a Vyazmikin autograph, and with any luck I might be able to add that one this year as well.
And slowly but surely chipping away at the overall NHL player goal. Officially, I'm at 6,820 unique players autographs of 7,746 players to ever play in the NHL since 1917 for 88% overall with about 50 (mostly deceased) incoming. My goal for 2021 is to reach that 90% mark.
For anyone interested, all 6,820 autographs are scanned here and my complete wantlist is here.
